Bina48 is a robot made in the likeness of Bina Rothblatt, the wife of Martin Rothblatt. Martin Rothblatt is the founder of Sirius Radio, and United Therapeutics, a six billion dollar biotech company specializing in creating human organs. He is also a prolific author, and a trans rights activist. A leader of the trans rights movement for decades, his ideas and theories have helped to shape the policy and laws we see today. He is both a powerhouse, and an influencer of transgenderism. The father of four children, Martin and Bina have been married for 35 years. Martin became Martine in 1994 at the age of 40. Bina embraced his transgenderism and the couple refers to themselves as Marbina, two bodies, on soul forever in love. Martine is a lawyer, a medical ethics PhD, an entrepreneur, a prolific author, and a transhumanist.
Martin and Bina founded, Terasem Faith. They believe humans can live forever with the aide of biotech and computer technology. Bina48 is a physical manifestation of this belief, where the mind can be uploaded into a cloud and live forever. Rothblatt calls this “Mind Clones”, a mind clone will be implanted into a regenerated body. What does Martine mean by regenerated body? Is that just a robot, or something else?
Rothblatt appears to always be in the right place at the right time with a colorful and fantastical story. As a young man Martin found himself bored at UCLA and took off to explore the world. In 1974 he by chance found himself on the island nation of the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, home to a NASA satellite tracking station. Martin was inspired by the powerful satellites and from then on he wanted to unite the world with satellite technology. He also found a love for space and a belief that humans will someday travel and live in space. Martin later returned to UCLA and enrolled in a joint degree program in business and law. As a lawyer Rothblatt was hired by a Washington, D.C. firm of Covington & Burling. There he represented the television and raido broadcasting system before the FCC. Martin successfully secured the pathways for what would become geo tracking and statilite radio.
In a dramatic twist of fate shortly after Martin became Martine, his daughter Jenesis was diagnosed with a life threatening disease of her lungs. The doctors gave her just years to live and the possible need for a lung transplant. To save his daughter’s life, Martin went back to school and got a Phd in bioethics. His doctoral thesis was written on xenotransplantation,
“Xenotransplantation is any procedure that involves the transplantation, implantation or infusion into a human recipient of either (a) live cells, tissues, or organs from a nonhuman animal source, or (b) human body fluids, cells, tissues or organs that have had ex vivo contact with live nonhuman animal cells, tissues or organs. The development of xenotransplantation is, in part, driven by the fact that the demand for human organs for clinical transplantation far exceeds the supply.”
Motivated to not only save his daughter, but the world too, he founded United Therapeutics. As fortune would have it for Rothblatt, Wellcome Trust had an experimental drug that might work for Jenesis, BUT the drug had never gone into clinical trials and was only studied on rats. Wellcome Trust which became Glaxo Trust during Rothblatt’s quest to save his daughter, was not ever going use it or release it. According to Rothblatt, he begged Glaxo and they finally relented and sold him the miracle drug, but the drug had not been manufactured yet. From there Rothblatt built a billion dollar biotech company and produced Glaxo Trust’s drug into a billion dollar money maker. He saved his little girl, and built a billion dollar company too! All in a days work for this transhumainhist genius. Today his daughter is a picture of health and and thriving. She is so healthy and thriving that she was accused of sexual harassment in 2018 by an employee at United Therapeutics. The court document is quite interesting. The case is still in court.
One of the main priorities of United Therapeutics is to build organs with pigs. The pig parts have been used in medicine in recent years from heart valves to skin mesh, but not full organs.
"Weird does not mean unethical. There's a 45-degree line on a graph—as long as the utility exceeds the yuckiness, social acceptance wins," she said. “Taking organs from dead people and putting them in living people once seemed weird, it's not weird anymore. It would be stupid to abjure nature's greatest invention since chemistry."

Revivicor is a lab in the United States run by Rothblatt currently growing human cells in pigs. In 2022, his company was able to produce a pig/human heart and transplant that heart into a 57 year old man, David Bennet in Maryland. It was the second successful attempt in recent human history to plant an animal organ into a human. Baby Fae was xenotransplanted with a baboon heart and lived 21 days before her body rejected it in 1984. Martine’s fascination with the genome and transhumanism has enabled him to produce organs that can be made with biotechnology. What else can this technology produce?
Martine believes that flesh is just a minimal part of biological reality. He is a staunch anti racist and for him, fleshism is racism. According to the website, World Against Racism Museum, “What is Fleshism? Belief that having flesh makes one superior to someone without flesh, especially in matters that are irrelevant to the physical characteristics of flesh.” Basically Martine is advocating for rights and protections for digitally collected data that he calls “Mind Clones” that will become robots, which in his mind, is the human soul. He also says that biological sex is apartheid and is not real. Humans can have whatever gender they want. They are not bound by their sexed reality nor biological reality. Humans can be gods and live forever in a variety of bodies. The possibilities are endless. In his book, Transgenderism to Transhumanism, he writes,
Transgenderism is the first step into the acceptance of transhumaism. In a transhumanist world the human body will be enhanced with techology. A fusion of human and animal, male and female, a conciousness transforming space and time into whatever it wants to be. This is the technocratic landscape of transhumanism. Children are being mentally and scoially engineered for this future. It is supported by biotech, the financial industry, big tech, and government. When very powerful people amass extreme amounts of wealth and power the thrist to be God drives them into mad science. The children are the experiements and the collateral damage in this quest.
