It's really hard to take the Connecticut Democrats seriously.

They just sent an urgent fundraising email after "Texas Democrats hopped on a plane and fled their state to break quorum in order to stop Republicans from attempting to steal the 2026 midterm elections" by redrawing the congressional district maps.

"These new districts were illegally drawn in a way that silences the voices of minority communities across Texas," complain the democrats while conveniently ignoring the fact that Connecticut hasn't had Republican representation in Washington, D.C., ever since Chris Shays' term ended on January 3, 2009.

Proceeds from the fundraising efforts will be split between the Connecticut and Texas democrat parties in order to help fund the "great personal sacrifice" made by these Texas democrats while they are "away from their family (and jobs)," to help cover the $500/day in fines (and new charges) they are racking up, and to combat the "negative ads" from Governor Greg Abbott.

"It's not about fair representation," complain the democrats. "This hijacking of the special session for Donald Trump's redistricting is a shameful betrayal of the Texans who just lost their homes, livelihoods, and love ones."

Donations are flowing through the democrats favorite money laundering outfit, Act Blue.

"This is the fight to save democracy that Democrats have been warning about for ten years. It’s going to take all of us to ensure that this bold attempt to rig and steal this republic does not go unchallenged," said the Connecticut democrats unironically.

US Senator Chris Murphy, newfound friend of Texas Congresswoman Jazzy Crocket who could be kicked out of her own district after redistricting, said that, "what is happening in Texas is at the heart of the constitutional crisis facing our democracy."

"What we know about how to protect a democracy is that when the regime that's trying to convert a country to authoritarianism, is operating outside of the box, is ignoring the norms and the pro-democracy opposition is staying inside the box and observing all the norms, that's how democracy dies," claimed Murphy before calling on democratic states, California in particular, to engage in gerrymandering so that republicans don't "rig the rules."

Connecticut State Rep. MJ Shannon even "joined lawmakers from over 35 states on the steps of the Massachusetts State House to stand in solidarity" with the Texas democrats who are upset about redistricting.

The truth is that Connecticut hasn't had representation in Congress for 16 years because the state was gerrymandered long ago, and let's face it -- gerrymandering has been around since nearly the start of the country.

Even the mainstream media in Connecticut has admitted that the state's congressional district map is "contorted" and "awkward" and tilted toward democrats, and that the decades-ago changes had "initially favored the GOP" but have "produced only democratic victories since 2008."

Republicans in the state are desperate for some representation in Washington, D.C. -- and also for some balance in Hartford for that matter.
