Earlier this month, Reduxx reported that Nicholas Clark, who changed his name to Veronica-May Clark in 2021, has been refused state-funded trans surgery.

In July 2024, a US District Court ruled in favor of Clark, supported by the deeply controversial ACLU of Connecticut which called the ruling a "hard-fought victory for trans rights in CT, as well as the rights of incarcerated people."

However, on October 6, 2025, that decision was reversed in the Connecticut court of appeals by Judge Vanessa Lynne Bryant, who argued that “inmates have no clearly established rights” to receive surgeries upon request.

Clark is serving a 75-year sentence for the murder of his estranged wife’s partner (60 years) and for the brutal attack on his former wife (15 years), also at that time.

The murder took place in 2007 in Waterbury when Clark lived in Newtown.
