Demand our legislature choose Parents over Pornography in our local school libraries!

Two bills this session displace parents (and school boards) in favor of pornographic or "sexual health" material. If this material is deemed "appropriate" by a "media specialist", then it is banned from being challenged by any parent, community member or even a school board member. It usurps local control in favor of one person. Why?

Only 17 books challenged in 2024.

Why are parents being prevented from even challenging these books? In all of 2024, only 17 books were challenged in the over 1,000 libraries in Connecticut. We don't have a book "challenge" problem in Connecticut.  But we do have a teen and young adult porn problem. Porn problems that originate from many platforms and should not include school libraries. Parents should be involved and CT should not be shutting them out. Contact your legislator today.

SB 1271 even prevents challenges of Drag Queen Story Hours in school.

Your legislators are getting ready to vote on SB 1271 which would even prevent parents from challenging Drag Queen Story Hours.  Even your elected Board of Education would be prevented from removing them as a program!  Drag Queens reading inappropriate stories to your children in school will be protected from any challenge as a "viewpoint" expressed (section (1)(e)(3)). This adult programming does not belong in front of children without their parents.

These bills are on the "go list" and are ready to be voted on.

EMERGENCY: HB 7014 and SB 1271 are on the "go list" and could be voted on any day between now and midnight on June 4. We need you to contact your legislators and share this e-mail with others.

Are you willing to come to the Capitol to stand with others in opposition to these bills? Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon between now and June 4, the legislature will be in session and FIC Action will be there. Won't you join us?

Join us at the Capitol this session to be a witness for democracy and local control.

If you are willing to join us, bring a friend and come to the Connecticut State Capitol any afternoon.  We plan to be there, and you can be there too. Send an e-mail to [email protected] to let us know if you plan to attend.  Or just print this document and bring it to the Capitol and hand to legislators. Make your own hand-held signs and let legislators know that parents should not be excluded from challenging p*rny books in school libraries. We are making progress, but we need hundreds more e-mails in the next week to defeat these bills. Please send yours today.

Unbelievable!!!!!

Liz Conti

This is a disgrace and further it is an open and allowed exploitation and indoctrination of or children disguised as "fun"! This should be outlawed! This state is set on a crusade to the outermost avenues of abject child abuse to pursue a political agenda of satanic worship!

Amy Williams

A real life “Horror Show”!
Parents who subject their precious children to this garbage, should be charged with child abuse- that’s exactly what it is!!!!!
