Connecticut is promoting child abuse. Every March 31st is International Transgender Day of Visibility. This day celebrates “the joy and resilience of trans and non-binary people everywhere by elevating voices and experiences from these communities”. (Hurley, 2023) Transgender children are gender confused children. This celebration of confusion can only be supported if one ignores lessons from the Bible, statements of the Vatican, scientific evidence, and the law.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services defines child abuse as “… Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation.” (U.S. Department of health and Human Services, 2023)
This definition helps us makes the case that gender ideology (the foundation of transgender movement) leads to child abuse. A careful examination of the Bible, statements from the Vatican, scientific evidence, and current law leads us to this disturbing conclusion.
Gender Dysphoria
Gender ideology is the belief that children can be born into the wrong body, i.e., a girl can be born into a boy’s body and a boy into a girl’s body. (PhD, 2023) When a child believes this lie, it’s known as gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is an emotional condition, not a physical one. (Mayo Clinic) There are no scientific or medical diagnoses for this condition. It is all based on what the child feels.
Gender affirming care is a series of medical interventions designed to treat dysphoria. (Boyle, 2022) The child abusers are those who encourage gender affirming care. Parents who refuse gender affirming care are protecting their children especially because 90% of gender dysphoric children outgrow it. (Shrier, 2021)
Bible Evidence
“A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.” – Deuteronomy 22:5
In Genesis, the Bible confirms we are either man or woman as part of God’s design. This doesn’t negate the confusing feelings of children with gender dysphoria (transgender). Thanks to God’s gift of free will, those suffering with gender dysphoria can choose to act on those emotions or to act consistent with the Bible teachings.
As Christians, it’s important to express empathy and help anyone confused about God’s plan. Gender confused adults have more of a choice than gender confused children because children’s brains are not fully developed. In either case, the existence of these emotions does not require us to deny God’s plan. We are contributing to child abuse if we deny God’s plan.

Vatican Statements
The “Infinite Dignity” declaration by the Pope confirms the value of God’s gifts. (Holy See Press Office, 2024) Gender ideology denies God’s most beautiful, complementary gift of gender (male or female). This beautiful gift demands respect and any denial is an attack on human dignity and an attack on the family. (Wally Hauck, 2024)
“It follows that any sex-change intervention, as a rule, risks threatening the unique dignity the person has received from the moment of conception.” (Holy See Office of the Vatican, 2024)
Celebrating the joy and resilience of trans and non-binary people, denies infinite dignity.
Scientific Evidence
The claim a child with gender dysphoria might commit suicide if he/she is refused gender affirming care is often used to convince parents to support these radical treatments. Parents of gender dysphoric children are often asked, “Would you rather have a dead daughter or a thriving transgender son?” (Elordi, 2023) This threat has no scientific basis.
According to recent scientific research, the chance of suicides are higher for those who had gender surgery not those who avoid it. (‘The Butchers And Liars Were Murderously Wrong’: New Study Finds 12-Fold Higher Suicide Risk For People Who Had Gender Surgery, 2024) According to research, fully 90% of children who “feel” gender dysphoria, will outgrow it. (Court, 2023)
On the other hand, the transgender community often sites a survey of LGBTQ youth that claims gender confused youth who receive support from family and friends will avoid attempted suicides. (The Trevor Project, 2022)
The Cass Report provides a scathing assessment of the efficacy of gender affirming care and gender reassignment interventions. (Society for Evidence based Gender Medicine, 2024) Therefore, encouragement to receive ineffective gender-affirming care and or gender reassignment (permanent) surgeries is an act that causes serious harm (child abuse).
The Law
Trump’s White House issued an executive order confirming the biological reality of sex (either male or female). (The White House, 2025)
Summary
If gender affirming care is helpful for the gender dysphoric child, why does the left attempt to hide treatment from parents as does California bill AB 1955? (Lifesite news, 2025) Perhaps it’s because these treatments cause serious medical complications such as infections, infertility, physical harm of girls in sports, unfair lost opportunities for girls in sports, and sexual assault of girls in locker rooms or bathrooms. (Wally Hauck, 2024)
The International Transgender Day of Visibility proclamation asks for a celebration of the joy of child abuse and ignores the horrific harm of gender affirming care. The child abusers are those who encourage gender affirming care. Parents who refuse gender affirming care are being responsible.
I was asked to attend the International Transgender Day of Visibility this year. I declined. I refuse to associate myself with this celebration of child abuse. What about you?
