Well how about that.

Just a few weeks ago, US Congressman Jim Himes was drawing an analogy between the Trump Administration and the Third Reich.

But today, at POLITICO’s Security Summit, Himes actually offered a bit of praise for President Trump.

“I’m not in the habit of praising Donald Trump, but I’ve got to tell you, the last week or so in the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, it’s a different story,” Himes said at the summit.

"The last week in the Middle East, I go into the week fearing that the Prime Minister of Israel is hell-bent on going to war with Iran. I go into the week thinking we're going to miss the thread of an opportunity in Syria for the new leadership there," said Himes. "And I’ve got to tell you, I think the President has, in this last week or so, played the Middle East pretty darn well."

He went on to "guess" that Netanyahu would be "cooling his heels" a bit on Iran and thinking through "a better situation than he might want" for Gaza.

"Look, it appears that we're going to give Sharaa a chance in Syria," exclaimed Himes. "That's pretty good stuff. Again, I'm not in the habit of praising this President, but I've got to give him some kudos there."

The moderator, Jonathan Martin, the Politics Bureau Chief & Senior Political Columnist for Politico, took a moment to note that "the very reason" Himes was praising President Trump is because he "took a more dovish approach to the Middle East than the hawks in his party."

Then the conversation turned to Ukraine and Russia.

"Again, look I was as horrified as any American when they brutalized the President of Ukraine in the Oval Office," said Himes. "To me, that is a symbol that we will not live down for a very long time. To take the struggling president of an imperfect but victimized democracy and to humiliate him in the Oval Office, we're not living that one down."

But then he admitted that Trump's efforts over the last couple of weeks have "evolved" and actually been "helpful."

“I think the Kremlin is thinking like, ‘Whoa, this president, the United States is not the unconditional ally that we might have thought he was',” said Himes.

When the subject of Biden's mental fitness came up, Himes remarked that "it was clear to me he had no business running" in the 2024 election.

He added that he probably saw Joe Biden "four or five times total" in 2023, attempting to downplay the idea that he knew anything about Biden's mental decline at any point before the infamous debate with Trump that put the nail in the coffin on Biden's campaign.

Both Himes and Martin were even throwing shade at Jill Biden for not saying anything.

Hime also discussed the "politicization of intelligence" while being dismissive of MAGA's concerns about the intelligence on the Hunter Biden laptop.

"Since the politicization of intelligence under George Bush, where the intelligence community bent over backwards to find weapons of mass destruction that weren't there, I have not seen out-of-the-bounds politicization, at all, of intelligence," said Himes who added that there was "lots of ambiguity about the origins of covid."

Ambiguity? Is that what he's calling it?

This is Himes' version of the 'two-step' attempt to navigate the mountain of lies and deceptions he's foisted on us during just the Biden presidency - he's got an equal-sized list of examples dished out during Obama's tenure. His constant use of well-vocabularied Jr-HS thinking is on full display...as always. His technique has served him successfully at the polls with an occasionally-focused electorate. But the whoppers of recent years may soon finally burst the dam of subterfuge he's created.
