America has seen this story before. Centuries ago, our ancestors came to Connecticut and other colonies as indentured servants — bound by unfair contracts, mistreated, and seen as property. Today, that same system is alive again, just under a different name.

Undocumented immigrants are the new indentured servants. Many are misled with false promises, then forced into low-wage jobs, trapped in fear of deportation, and treated as tools rather than human beings. They aren’t the villains. The real villains are the corporations and politicians who profit off their labor while stealing from taxpayers through census manipulation and corruption.

This broken system leaves the middle class carrying the burden. Families struggle to survive while companies that follow the law drown under heavy taxes and benefit costs. Meanwhile, dishonest businesses cut corners by hiring undocumented workers off the books, fueling a cycle of exploitation.

For years, politicians have looked the other way. They pretend compassion while turning immigrants into property, just like indentured servants of the past. It’s not kindness — it’s control, and it’s profit.

That’s why Trump’s push for stricter enforcement and accountability matters. It’s not about punishing people who come here seeking a better life — it’s about stopping the corruption at the top that uses both immigrants and the middle class as pawns. By holding companies and politicians responsible, we can protect working families and restore fairness.

History teaches us that when we allow labor to be devalued, society as a whole suffers. If we want a stronger future, we must face this problem directly and end the system of modern indentured servitude — once and for all.
