The Muslim Justice Center Of New Britain led the call for a protest in New Britain on Tuesday after five people were allegedly picked up by federal immigration agents from the East Street Car Wash on Monday.
It's not the first time the owner of the car wash has had his workers allegedly "taken" by ICE agents. In fact, the owner claims ICE has picked up employees from four other locations of his business, including East Windsor, Cromwell, Bristol, and Southington.

Ebaa Mohmed, the Executive Director for the Muslim Justice Center of New Britain, said to WFSB Eyewitness News that, "With the trump administration with the new Britain mayor being radio silent on this issue. We aren’t relying on external factors to protect us. We are coming together to protect ourselves and protect each other.”
Mohmed's organization joined forces for the protest with:
Connecticut mainstream media, including Fox 61 and WFSB Eyewitness News, were on hand to offer friendly coverage of the anti-ICE protest, where attendees held signs that said things like "ICE = gestapo" and "Abolish ICE" and called ICE "cruel, unconstitutional and un-American."
At one point Karleigh Webb of the PSL shouted questions to the crowd about life under Trump, like, “Are the the egg prices lower? Do we have better workers’ rights? Do we have better education in the country? Do we have housing for you and not for developers?” while the crowd responded, "No."
“What about health care?” Webb asked. “Has snatching an immigrant, someone randomly off the street, given you health care?”
Meanwhile, protesters could be heard chanting things like, “No hate, no fear! Immigrants are welcome here!" and “ICE, ICE get out of town! You can’t keep the people down!” and “Up, up with liberation! Down, down with deportation!”
Just another typical day in Connecticut.
