Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to visit Beirut, Lebanon from November 30 - December 2. This is part of his first "Apostolic Journey" outside of Italy. His first stop will be Istanbul, Turkey from November 27-30.

According to Vatican News, on the day of the Pope's arrival to Beirut, he "will meet with [and] hold separate meetings with the President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister of Lebanon. He will then give his customary address to Lebanese authorities, representatives of civil society, and members of the diplomatic corps."

The Pope's schedule of stops and events were released by the Vatican's press office.

The visit by Pope Leo XIV comes at a time of alarming concerns about the position of Christians in the country and the wider area.

It is unclear at this juncture if, or how, the Pope will address these concerns during his trip to Lebanon.

Last week, CDM founder L. Todd Wood interviewed Gebran Bassil, the leader of the predominantly Christian Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), on location in Beirut, Lebanon.

Wood reported, "The FPM is deeply concerned about the demographic, security, economic, and cultural implications of keeping such a large [Syrian] refugee population [two million] on Lebanese soil."

Wood continued, "Bassil regards the return of two million Syrian refugees, the vast majority of whom are Sunni Muslims who fled the war in Syria, as an existential matter for preserving the Christian presence and maintaining Lebanon’s delicate social balance."

"The Free Patriotic Movement seeks to restore balance to Lebanon’s political structure, one that Christians enjoyed prior to the civil war," described Wood.

In late August, Wood discussed the deeply concerning situation facing Christians in Lebanon with Steve Bannon. Wood was in Beirut and had recently been moved to a somewhat secure location after a kidnapping threat.

This interview "Lebanese Christians Need Help" took place in mid-October 2025.

An earlier interview of Hayek by CDM took place in August 2025. These interviews are also available on Rumble (Interview 1and 2).
