Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau in Deep River, CT, apparently disagrees with the Trump Administration when it comes to divisive, racist DEI programs. It's sponsoring a session on "DEI Basics" at the Deep River Public Library on May 19th from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM.
Taxpayers, of course, are footing the bill to bring "DEI Basics" to Deep River... that's because the Youth Service Bureaus (YSB) in Connecticut were established by state statute and receive an annual budget allocation.
Tri-Town Youth Services, which covers the towns of Chester, Deep River and Essex, selected Elijah Manning, the founder of Inclusive Education LLC, for the program.
Manning is a native of Old Saybrook, CT, who went to school to study acting.
But after a couple jobs pushing equity at Planned Parenthood and the Veterinary Emergency Group, along with some handy DEI certifications, Manning now positions himself as a "JEDI Consultant" -- that's Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion -- and also an Abolitionist, Public Speaker and Workshop Facilitator.
As you might imagine, being a "JEDI Consultant" means Manning is certainly not a fan of conservatives, Trump or MAGA. He viewed the 2024 election as a decision between "humanity and morality" and "fear and spite."
"One candidate is tied with racism and looking to implement immunity for the police from violence. Wants to round up undocumented people and put them in interment camps," Manning wrote about Trump. "If you are in support of this person, I question your moral compass. If you think his use of racism, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, and other forms of discrimination you are either lying, racist, or willfully accepting of racism."
In fact, he thinks the whole "conservative agenda that goes against "woke" weaponizing it against black people, liberals, and other people of color, or marginalized groups including women, LGBTQIA individuals, and those with disabilities... will uphold a white supremacy culture that upholds the myth of meritocracy."
"If we right now back down to the growing rage over DEI in schools and continue to teach the colonized curricula, there will not be an equitable society. Teaching in this way does not vilify white people in society today," said Manning in a 2021 Op-Ed. "It also doesn’t continue to allow Black people to play the victim, which has also been stated."
He further argued that the reason we need an "inclusive education" is because "we have people fighting against #blacklivesmatter claiming politics."
And because students are taught a "glorified version" of history about Christopher Columbus that leaves out the bad parts about him being a colonizer and such.
Manning is one of those guys who loves notorious race-baiter and fraud Ibram X. Kendi.
That means Manning believes if you deny you are a racist, then you must be a racist.
And if you are not actively working to become antiracist, then you are also a racist.
Just to be clear, Manning offers a graphic to define the key differences between being "antiracist" and "not racist."
An antiracist, for instance, is always engaged in the ongoing struggle against white supremacy, speaking out as an activist in your personal and professional life, and educating yourself about whiteness and your own privilege, whereas those who say they are "not racist" are just pacifying themselves and perpetuating racism.
He also offers this really useful tool to find out how much of a racist you are.
Because people just love being told their "feelings of white guilt" compounded by "white savior" behaviors can lead to "terrorism".
Why does Tri-Town Youth Services want to make young people feel guilty about the color of their skin? Isn't that about the most racist thing of all?
