Politicians have long been known to use creative titles to push legislation that many times has nothing to do with the law they are trying to pass. One recent example being the "Inflation Reduction Act," which had much to do with financing a very radical and restrictive energy policy, and as we all felt too personally, nothing to do with lowering inflation.
One local politician who has shown a fondness for deceptive creativity is first term Connecticut assembly candidate, Hector Arzeno. You may have seen some of his lawn signs with the cute little play on words with his name, "Hec Yes," at the top of the sign.
What, you ask, should I say "Hec Yes" to? When his opponent, Tod Laudonia, heard concerns from constituents about skyrocketing inflation, in particular the surcharges that are added to your Eversource bill, he suggested Mr. Arzeno and his colleagues meet in a special session in Hartford to address those concerns. The suggestion fell on deaf ears. Why, you may ask? Maybe because Hector is beholden to lobbyists like the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, whose agenda is to add such surcharges to your bill. The surcharge amounts to what is a charitable contribution to promote a radical Green energy policy, supported by the governor and Mr. Arzeno.
The constituents who make up the 151st assembly district are some of the most charitable givers in the state. But shouldn't they be able to direct their generosity toward Abilis, veteran's interests, cancer research? The surcharge in your energy built amounts to a forced charitable contribution to a special interest cause. Government control!
When you head to the polls in a couple of weeks answer, Mr. Arzeno's request for a "Hec Yes," with a resounding "HELL NO!"
Vote for Tod Laudonia who has shown a willingness and a desire to work for you, not the special interests.
