The Indivisible Project, led by political operatives Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin, has been calling on members to protest against Elon Musk and Donald Trump, and generate friendly media coverage out of the stunts.
The Indivisible chapters in Stamford and Greenwich eagerly followed those marching orders, advertising a "Tesla Takedown" protest in Stamford on Saturday, complete with local press coverage.
Having heard about Indivisible's astroturfing plans, we wondered what would happen if people who valued transparency, accountability and protecting hard-earned taxpayer dollars attended the Tesla Takedown, and how the media would cover it.
We went over to check it out first hand.
We stood peacefully and respectfully near the Indivisibles to represent our values, and to show our deep appreciation for President Trump, Elon Musk, and the good intentions behind DOGE to eliminate wasteful government spending and use our tax dollars in a more efficient manner.
We wore Trump inauguration sweatshirts and MAGA hats as we took up space alongside the Indivisibles in the parking lot. I was waving a red "MAGA Country" flag, while my friend held two small American flags.
My son dropped me off in the parking lot in a Tesla.
When he attempted to leave, an unhinged Indivisible activist jumped into the street in front of the car, blocking my son from leaving, while other Indivisibles screamed at us, "you're not welcome here -- you support predators -- you support traitors -- you love Nazis -- why don't you just f*cking go away?!"
After the angry old man got out of the way, I bumped into Leslie Yager, the founder of Greenwich Free Press.
She asked if she could take my picture and I agreed, knowing full well it would (and did) result in getting called hateful names on her Facebook page after the article got published.
I told her what happened to my son and how many times I got called a Nazi in the less than five minutes I had been there, but that angle wasn't newsworthy enough to mention in her article.
She also said there were "hundreds" of people at the protest, but that seems like a stretch.
We counted around 150 protestors, still a good showing, but a far cry from 300.
I encountered one particularly special lady from Indivisible who called me a "f*cking Nazi" more times than I could count. She berated my friend, a proud Patriot and an Indian Jew, by calling her "Spanish" and a Nazi.
The unhinged woman spat at me a couple of times, failing to hit me, obviously unable to contain her own emotions and utterly outraged at the idea that the government is cutting wasteful spending.
In fact, every time she saw me, she made a point of charging at me, while loudly, angrily screaming "Nazi!!!" at the top of her lungs. She also threatened to have people follow me to my car and take down my license plate.
The group headed toward Tesla's headquarters, just a short walk down the road, while loudly chanting.
They were still calling us "Nazis" and flipping us the bird as they moved past us. A lot of protestors aggressively shoved their signs into our faces while shouting, but we stood strong and smiled as the spectacle unfolded.
We never engaged in name-calling or returned any negative sentiments, although the irony of getting yelled at by people who are allegedly "raising kind humans" is not lost on us!
Employees from Tesla and various stores located in the adjacent shopping plaza were giving us lots of "thumbs up" for daring to show up in support of Musk and Trump.
We even got offered free beer as a thank you from someone coming out of the back door of the liquor store!
Most of the spectators seemed annoyed by Indivisible's antics, as were Tesla's employees and customers who, by the way, very much appreciated our presence.
After the group paraded toward Tesla, we ran into a couple guys riding "wheels" in the parking lot.
One of our new friends gladly picked up the MAGA Country flag and zipped around the parking lot, right behind the Indivisible protestors as they assembled at the entrance to Tesla's Stamford service center.
This triggered the Indivisibles even further, resulting in more screams of "Nazi!!!" especially from that unhinged gal I encountered when I first arrived.
The protest organizer advised the unhinged woman not to engage any further, and suggested it was the guy on the wheel with the MAGA flag who looked ridiculous, not the woman calling people Nazis.
It's worth mentioning one of our new wheel-riding friends is an Orthodox Jew—about as far from a Nazi as you can get—but that hardly mattered to this deranged lunatic who called anyone opposed to her a Nazi.
We saw Greenwich Selectwoman Janet Stone McGuigan proudly marching alongside the Indivisibles who called us "Nazis" and a long list of other hateful names.
I wrote to Selectwoman Stone McGuigan to ask her why she joined the protest, and to find out what she had to say about the anti-semitic hate speech her friends directed towards me and my friends, but she never responded.
We also mentioned this story to First Selectman Fred Camillo, thinking his Antisemitism and Anti Hate Speech Task Force might be interested to know about the Indivisibles' messaging. He shared our comments with the task force, which just met last week. The next meeting is scheduled for May 7th.
The protestors didn't have a permit to stay in the parking lot, so they continued marching until they reached the public sidewalk at the main entrance to the shopping plaza on Route 1 / West Main Street.
Their antics continued, shouting at cars entering the parking lot, with some protestors jumping in and out of the roadway to impede the traffic flow.
Some of the protestors used their children as props, for instance, to virtue signal that it is time to "make America kind again."
Mind you, these are the same people who just breathlessly screeched at us, calling us racists, Nazis, rapist-sympathizers, criminal-lovers, fascists, protectors of oligarchs and more. The same people who told us to "get the f*ck out" because we weren't welcome to express support for our values in a public place like they were.
And these are the people telling us to be kind?
You know who was kind?
This lovely couple who ran out of a store just to thank us for having the courage to stand up for our values. They very enthusiastically said we made their day and even posed for a picture with our flags.
So did plenty of other people who cheered "Make America Great Again" when they saw us.
After having spent less than an hour in the parking lot, we decided to pack it up and head home, thinking our adventure had ended... but we were wrong.
After we were identified by name in the Greenwich Free Press, we were told we had been doxxed on social media, and that our pictures, personal emails and home addresses had been shared with Indivisible members.
The poorly written and grammatically incorrect messages said we were "intimidating and harassing peaceful protestors" by simply being there. They also called us "homos" and "maggots" and fired off yet another microaggression against my friend, this time misidentifying her heritage as Latino.
So much for all the implicit bias training and DEI lessons from the party of inclusion!!!
P.S. Do you think it's a coincidence that democrats just proposed a bill in Hartford for state-funded media, and that the bill was supported by Indivisible members in written testimony last week???
