The Attempted Assassination Attempt on former President Trump was a deplorable act. While the details are still coming in, there was a rapid response by the US Secret Service and others in law enforcement.
I made this video as I learned of the tragic event just minutes after it happened.
There is at least one rally attendee that was killed and my condolences go out to that person’s family and there was at least one other attendee that was badly injured. The fact that this can happen in America, especially to a well-defended former President and candidate is deplorable. This causes fear for future rally attendees and other public gatherings and fear is a deterrent to our democracy. It is unacceptable.
With respect to President Trump, he was shot in the upper part of his ear. He was immediately protected by his secret service detail. He arose from the shooting and put his fist in the air symbolizing his resolve.
We live in a democracy, and disagreements are settled at the ballot box. It is not clear how many were involved and the investigation is unfolding. We have to let the investigation take its course but in a rapid manner to ensure that this was an isolated incident. Justice must prevail and all of those involved must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We cannot let this tragedy instill fear in Americans.
Democracy must prevail and this is another example where violence has taken over our nation. These political disagreements and polarization must be addressed at the ballot box and in meaningful dialogue.
I still believe in this great country and I am grateful that President Trump, as the current candidate for the presidency will live to fight another day. He yelled “Fight, Fight, Fight” after he stood up.
In tragedy, you learn who your real friends are. Even with the time zone, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, appears to be the first to respond.
He beat President Biden to the response by an hour
As Americans, our resolve must be stronger now than ever. There are forces at play that threaten our way of life. This is not about our political parties. It is about our democracy. It is sad that tragedies usually bring out the best in America to join together and fight a common enemy.
This is why it is more important to make your voices heard at the ballot box this November and this August at the Primary. There are no excuses. This is your fight to save our democracy and our country and the time is NOW.
I am fighting to ensure that our democracy and way of life is protected and endures.
MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD ON AUGUST 13th BY GOING TO THE POLLS.
