There are two districts that will be having special elections scheduled to fill vacancies in the Connecticut General Assembly:
One is the 21st Senatorial District, which consists of portions of Monroe, Seymour, and Stratford, and the entirety of Shelton, and was most recently held by Kevin Kelly.
Candidates for the vacancy include:
Republican Jason Perillo, a lifelong Shelton resident and currently State Representative
Democrat Tony Afriyie, a Stratford Town Councilman and aide to Congressman Rosa DeLauro
The other is the 40th Assembly District, which consists of portions of Groton and New London, and was most recently held by Christine Conley.
Candidates for the vacancy include:
Republican Robert Boris, currently leads Groton’s economic development commission and chairs the Mystic Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
Democrat Dan Gaiewski, a native of Groton who serves on the town council
The Early Voting period is effective for 4 days, beginning today, Thursday, February 20, 2025.
