Millions of people have entered the United States illegally and now they are our responsibility here in Connecticut. The actual cost is rising fast and the amount of money spent to care for them is shocking.
Just like we broke the energy bill crisis, it is time you know what illegals cost us.
While we do not have Connecticut figures - Take a lesson from our border neighbor - New York. Here are some frightening data points on costs for illegals in less than one year:
July, 2023 - monthly costs were $284,805,056
January, 2024, monthly costs were $662,026,525 (a 232 percent increase in 6 months)
June, 2024, monthly costs were $1,030,322,204 (a 362 percent increase in 12 months)
THATS RIGHT - in less than one year spending on illegals has more than tripled (362 percent).
This cost of illegal care represents $1 billion dollars per month - THAT IS 5% of the total New York State budget.
There are additional costs to New York and other cities. In the first six months of 2024, New York City spent $2.85 billion dollars on illegal aliens. New York’s 2024 Budget is $106.7 Billion dollars. NYC is separately spending approximately 5% of its budget on illegals. AND - It has a cumulative three-year budget gap of $13.9 billion.
What does this mean for Connecticut?
If New York State and New York City are spending over $1.5 billion dollars per month, states like Connecticut (with an amount that has not been disclosed) must be spending a similar amount as a percentage of total budget.
I am sure New Yorkers would love a 5 percent savings on their tax bill and Connecticut taxpayers would rather use that for gas, groceries, school supplies or other inflation related cost increases due to bad policies of Jim Himes, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.
Should any state go into debt to pay for illegals? NO.
Education is probably not included in these costs to educate children here illegally. As this is also going on in Connecticut, the average cost per student is $20,000-25,000 per student (not including special ed).
I suspect that there are similar numbers in Connecticut but no one knows. Demand Accountability - Demand Transparency.
What is the Solution?
Hard working tax paying Americans need leaders who believe that when our Constitution says that we are a government by the people and for the people that it means that we are a government that works for its citizens not those who violate our immigration laws. Connecticut’s motto is Qui Transtulit Sustinet," (He Who Transplanted Still Sustains). Well that is for Nutmeggers - its not transplant everyone here as that is not sustainable.
It is time for a change - Send a message to Himes this November as your Acting Director of Intelligence who loves an open Border - Lets Put a Doctor in the House and Let’s Close that Border.
