Connecticut's very own Senator Chris Murphy went on MSNBC to talk about how "misogyny and sexism" are allegedly creating "headwinds" for Kamala Harris.

"Today we live in a world in which that patriarchy is toppling, and one of the biggest signals that the patriarchy is toppling is the pending election of a woman to be the most powerful person in the world," says the junior Senator from Connecticut who is up for re-election.

"Men for centuries easily found their identity through that system of men having more legal power," explains Murphy. "They were identified easily as protectors and breadwinners, and now you have just as many families where woman make as much, if not more than the men do."

"What men want, and what everybody wants, but what certainly young men want is a feeling of power, and Donald Trump and republicans offer it in a pretty simple recipe," says Murphy who then goes on to try to scare women by falsely suggesting Trump will roll back women's rights to the stone ages.

He said that Trump is going to essentially "take power from women and give it to men" -- kind of ironic for a guy who is okay with men dominating women's sports.

Murphy then pivoted to Kamala Harris who thinks that "corporations, millionaires and billionaires" have too much power and says she plans to "reorder our economy and society in a way" to deliver more power to everybody, including young men... which begs the question, why hasn't Kamala done that during the nearly four years she's already been in office?

The panic over the "young male" vote is evident in Murphy's voice as he describes how young men, and really all men "feel like this transition to a post-patriarchal world has put them in a position where they're searching and they're having a harder time trying to find identity and meaning."

The interviewer, Alex Wagner, admits that, "it's just such a challenge for Harris because she represents a post-patriarchal world in a lot of ways."

Then she talked how Obama was trying to bring young men "back from the brink of being attracted to the siren song of Trumpism," presumably by calling out "the brothers" for not supporting Harris.

Murphy seemed fearful that the Right is having a "direct conversation" with men that he argues "is often in disgusting, immoral terms" citing right-wing influencers.

He goes on to tell men, in a world where women have increasing power, that they, "are no longer going to be able to find that easy identity as a breadwinner or protector, and you just need to get over it."

Murphy knows this is not a satisfactory answer and even admits they need to find other ways to "have the conversation" with men.

That's why he appreciates having Obama on the campaign trail talking to young men about how they have to accept their new, post-pandemic roles in a feminist world, which doesn't appear to be going over all that well with men.
