Based on a number of red flags which presented themselves over the course of the 2024 General Election, Chris Reddy has filed an SEEC Complaint today in Hartford. This filing is meant to draw the attention of Connecticut elections officials to some of the shocking information witnessed and recorded relative to the voting process and ballots cast in Mansfield, CT.
Voters across the 29th Senate District are dismayed, disheartened and, frankly, angered by what they have seen and heard occurred in Mansfield's elections, and they want answers to their questions.
Chris Reddy and his Team called on the Secretary of State's office to withhold certification of this election until these red flags are satisfactorily investigated and resolved.
An important point to note is that Senator Flexer has been silent on the issues of serious red flags in the town that cast the most ballots in this race. Considering her co-chair position on the most influential committee on elections, and as the architect of these recent changes in election operations, she finds herself too busy declaring victory and sweeping issues under the rug to actually weigh in on voter concerns.
The issue at hand is voter confidence in free and fair elections, and the integrity of our elections is of the utmost concern. Residents of the 29th District can be assured that Chris Reddy will not rest until this complaint has been fully investigated and all compelling concerns have been addressed.
ADDITIONAL STATEMENT OF FACTS:
Directly from the Affidavit of Complaint, Concise Statement of Facts / Claim:
The Reddy For CT Senate campaign, specifically candidate for the 29th District Chris Reddy, has great concern regarding the sheer volume of same day registrations which were processed by the Mansfield elections officials both during the early voting dates and specifically on November 5, 2024. The information presented in this complaint calls into question the veracity and validity of the election results and clearly identifies the need for thorough investigation before the results of this election are certified.
Voters in the 29th District and across the state of Connecticut find it shocking to see that the Town of Mansfield recorded 1753 Same Day registrations by the morning of 11/06/2024, only to adjust their final numbers by the evening of 11/08/2024 to record 2522 total SDR. That is an adjustment of 769 additional registrations. A simple web search of the population of Mansfield, CT yields a 2024 population of approximately 25k residents. With New Haven receiving the next highest number of same day registrations at 2058, and a 2024 population of about 137k residents, it highlights the extreme disparity between Mansfield's outrageous numbers and every other municipality across
the state.
This truly calls into question the tactics used by the Connecticut Democrats to finance the enticement of the student population at UConn to vote in Mansfield elections. It appears that the Mansfield Democrat Town Committee financed door hangers telling students to "VOTE DEMOCRAT, VOTE ROW A", placed them on dorm room doors across campus, provided fully paid for coach buses to drive students to and from the polling station, and paid for pizza which was placed on tables inside the 75-foot line. The current Mansfield Democrat Town Committee (DTC) Chair Ben Shaiken, 54th House District Candidate Greg Haddad and 29th Senate District Candidate Mae Flexer served pizza to students while they were in line at the same day registration location to register and vote.
A fundraiser held by the Mansfield DTC the week before Election Day, which included top CT Democrats such as Ned Lamont and other administration officials, Federal Candidate Joe Courtney, and executive level town leaders from Mansfield certainly helped fund these enticement efforts by the Mansfield DTC. Additional contributions from powerful Political Action Committees to the tune of over $7k in October alone informs you that this was not a grassroots effort. The Mansfield Democrats flagrant disregard for the policies and procedures of major educational institutions should also fall under scrutiny. The facts show a concerted, coordinated effort by CT Democrats to bring potentially ineligible, out-of-state/district college age voters to the polls. This was done intentionally, in order to outpace and outweigh the strength of the Republican voters who cast a record number of ballots for the Republican challenger, Chris Reddy. Reddy received 1664 more votes in this election than the Republican challenger in the 2020 presidential race, which showed surprisingly high turnout.
With an influx of 1139 same day registrations (EDRs) on Election Day at a single polling place, serious questions certainly arise about whether the eligibility of each voter was accurately determined and if proper procedure was followed. With EDR taking place over a period of 840 minutes on 11/05/2024 before polls close, and 1139 EDRs, we have valid concerns as to whether election day staff could make the necessary phone calls or outreach to other municipalities and states to ensure these voters had not voted in another jurisdiction prior to voting in Mansfield. It was reported that the Mansfield Registrar's office admitted to entering a number of voter registrations on the morning of November 6, 2024. This would be a clear indicator that election law was violated, when ballots are completed on Election Day, but the voter had not been verified to be eligible before they were given a ballot.
Throughout this timeline of events and notwithstanding concerns relative to other same day registrations, we believe that at least 561 specific individuals were not properly registered electors and request investigation as to the timing of registration of these individuals along with timing of ballots received and cast.
On 11/06/2024, it was witnessed in more than one instance that an election official, was inside of a conference room with the door closed and shades drawn, seated at a table in the presence of, and opening, handling and counting official ballots, with no other person present. This calls into question every ballot that was in this official's presence during the time that she did not have an opposing party official present.
Go Chris!!!!
This is why same day registration or registration during early voting needs to be reformed. Ballots should be provisional until new registrants are confirmed for validity. In the case of students, Many may be registered in other states. Many may not be legal citizens. I hope this lawsuit sheds light, and gives Chris ready to be victory. He’s so deserves giving him by resident actual voters.
