Yesterday, Ben Proto, the chair of the Connecticut GOP, issued a statement about the Trump verdict.

He said, "The allegations made against President Trump were concocted wholly in service to the Biden campaign. They are desperate, they are losing, and they are, if you have read recent news, in a panicked ‘freakout.’ Clearly this is an abuse of our judicial process and this wrong verdict will be reversed on appeal. Joe Biden and the Democrats will face the only verdict that matters from the ultimate jury -- the voters -- on November 5th."

These sentiments were shared by a number of other Connecticut Republicans, including the West Hartford GOP which called the verdict, "one of the greatest judicial disgraces ever to occur in American history" and said "the legacy of the current generations of politicians will be the weaponization and politicization of our justice system."

And a candidate for State Rep in the 110th District, Austin Monteiro, who said, "No one should be “celebrating” what happened yesterday. Yesterday was a sad moment in our country’s history. We are better than that. If you are celebrating what happened yesterday I pray for you and our Country."

These thoughts apparently really triggered Connecticut Democrat Senators Bob Duff and Martin Looney.

They issued an unhinged statement today where they argued that "a unanimous verdict on 34 felony counts means that a jury made 408 separate decision to find Donald Trump guilty. There was not even one count where Trump had a single juror dissent in his favor."

The Democrats further called the Republicans' statements "reckless" and accused the Republicans of wanting to "undermine confidence" in the judicial system.

"Donald Trump is a convicted felon. Any statement to the contrary is a dangerous attack on our Constitution and the principles of American democracy."

Wait, if you think that the kangaroo court that convicted Trump on bogus charges was a witch hunt, then Democrats consider it an attack on "our democracy"? An actual thought crime?

"one of the greatest judicial disgraces ever to occur in American history" …the only thing wrong with this comment is that it should say “THE GREATEST judicial disgrace”
