Guest post from Family Institute of CT, Peter Wolfgang

"Family Institute of Connecticut brought in Jamie Reed to testify at our state legislature this past Friday against SB 35, the amendment to put abortion-up-to-birth and gender transitions for minors in our state constitution. The other side never knew what hit them. They spent the rest of the 13-plus hours-long public hearing, which started at noon and stretched into the wee hours of the following morning, reacting to Jamie but never quite recovering the ground they had lost.

Jamie was one of several speakers, some on gender and some on abortion, some local and some national, whom FIC brought in to address the committee. Though the Democrats have complete control of the agenda and the process, the day was a success because of the marvelous Republican legislators on the Committee who supported our speakers and asked fantastic questions--both of our side and of our opposition.

The Democrats, for the most part, conducted themselves with dignity and treated both their Republican colleagues and our speakers well. That is not something we have always seen from them in the past. Even local media, whom I've been beating the tar out of on X lately for their Pravda-like propaganda on this issue, gave our side equal time in their reporting.

One sour note, for me, was Sen. Mae Flexer upbraiding the CT Catholic Conference's spokesman, Dave Reynolds, for how the Church is supposedly not as faithful to Pope Francis as the CT Democratic Party, because the Church advocates more often for the unborn than it does for the environment. Dave, a gentleman, responded masterfully. We will have that video clip, and several others, soon.

Leslie Wolfgang and I were there at the LOB all day Friday and into the morning hours Saturday. We are still recovering. I will post the relevant links to the great Jamie Reed below and FIC will have an e-blast on this in the next day or two. Believe it or not, we have to go through this all over again for the Child Porn in School Libraries Bill on Thursday. And then I give a speech in DC on Saturday. Oh, and I'm speaking at St. Mary's Church in Ridgefield on Wednesday. Lots going on.

We still need to beat the amendment, about which more later. Thank you everyone who made the hearing a success. Thank you especially to my dear wife and valued colleague, Leslie, who made so much of this happen."
