Republican US Senate candidate Matthew Corey said today that “the only way many Connecticut voters will hear about the issues that matter to them will be a series of live debates before early voting begins October 21.”
“Many media outlets have recently sent me questionnaires asking about issues that elected Democrats, Democrat political consultants, and journalists care about. Yet questions about the affordability of life for the middle class, whether we can secure our national borders, and how we respond to the rise of rogue regimes like Iran are somehow left off these questionnaires.”
“Those are the issues I find Connecticut voters care about and those are the issues that both I and Senator Murphy should address in a public debate.”
“Somehow Senator Murphy can find time on a national cable TV show to talk about Doritos but cannot find time to deal with the media here in Connecticut as he asks for another six years in the Senate.”
“Instead of answering form questions I will appear in person at whatever debate that any statewide or regional news organization decides to sponsor anywhere in the state of Connecticut. And these debates must occur before voting begins in this year’s election.”
“If Senator Murphy doesn’t believe he owes the citizens of Connecticut an accounting in person as to his record in office, that in of itself is reason for his tenure in office to end and the Connecticut media owes it to the citizens of Connecticut to make that happen.”

We know what you are up against, Mr. Corey.
We have allowed the child to remain the child, un-responsible.
