Apparently at the urgings of the American Library Association, through at least the first 8 months of 2024, the Simsbury Public Library Director and Library Trustees approved shelf display of pornographic LGBTQ books in the library main floor Teen Room. Not until early August were most, but not all, of these offensive books removed after a resident complaint. The scandalous "Pride Primer" poster which recommended non-binary relationships for under-age teens was removed as well. For 8 months or more that poster had highlighted out of marriage, multi-partner, unprotected group sex for teens to experiment with. What could possibly go wrong? one asks, other than serious psychological damage and high risk venereal disease of all sorts. Would Simsbury parents be happy with promotion of such a no limits sexual life style for their children? The Library Director and Trustees apparently were and are thus responsible for the posting of this obnoxious, morally bankrupt agenda, without concerns, in the very Teen Room of the Simsbury Public Library.
For years there were rumors that a further egregious pornographic book repository for the under-aged was housed in the Simsbury High School Student Library, also at the behest of the American Library Association. Recently it was learned that following events concerning teen porno books at the Public Library, porno books in the High School Library were dispersed to prevent discovery and then identified for pending retirement. Six of the worst teen porno books were among those suddenly culled from the library "Graphic" collection after years of availability to teens, giving fact to long held suspicions. Board of Education members, cognoscente of activities in the high school they supervise, would thus be responsible for having deceived and usurped the rights of parents regarding the reproductive/sexual component of their child's up-bringing and for failing to perform most important responsibilities regarding student health and safety, which parents are keen on protecting and which lie at the heart of this entire porno matter.
In early August of this national election year, the Public Library Director and Library Trustees provided display approval for a portrait of President Trump apparently as basis for publicizing a litany of Trump-hating political comments designed to denigrate (and not to assassinate) the former president. Soon after, the 1st Selectman required removal of that inappropriate political material leaving "You're Fired/I Quit" as the painting title. If a painting of President Biden was presented to the Library with the caption "Ten Percent for the Big Guy" it is doubtful its display would ever receive Library policy approval, as did "You're Fired/I Quit" The Library's lately approved new display policy, superseding a previous lack of plain common sense, would provide cover for such refusal.
With abuse of the Teen Room content, abuse of the Trump painting and the High School "Graphic" collection, it has become clear that this political party is bent on expropriating and exploiting First Amendment public and school library privileges for gross political intent which should not be permitted. Our tax-payor funded Simsbury Public and School Library facilities should be and remain neutral territory least they be destroyed by political intrusion and oversight neglect as appear occurring in 2024.
