Today, surrounded by female athletes of all ages, President Donald Trump kept another campaign promise, signing an Executive Order to protect women's and girl's sports.

"Under the Trump administration, we will defend the proud tradition of female athletes, and we will not allow men to beat up, injure, or cheat our women and our girls. From now on, women's sports will be only for women." said President Trump to thunderous applause.

President Trump also promised to investigate schools for violations of Title IX, potentially putting their federal funding at risk.

This news did not sit well with Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, who called Trump's Executive Order "meanspirited and unlawful" and alleged that protecting women's sports would somehow be "deeply harmful to all Connecticut students."

“The U.S. Supreme Court made it clear in Bostock that discrimination against transgender individuals is illegal under federal law," argued AG Tong. "We will not allow Title IX to be unlawfully misused to degrade women and girls and defund our schools, colleges, and universities."

Yes, Tong is actually arguing that it "degrades women and girls" to stop men from entering their personal spaces and competing in women's sports.

As has become custom by now, Tong has promised to fight Trump's Executive Order.

"We will strongly oppose any attempt to strip Connecticut schools of funding merely because they are following a policy that aligns with the law," asserted Tong.

“Trump is going to do this again and again. He’s going to try to tell us we have two choices, to either inflict terrible harm on Connecticut families or accept the consequences of his lawless draconian threats," said Tong, promising to "stand together and fight back."

It's hard to take Tong seriously when he gaslights constituents like this.
