Donald Trump's win in the 2024 election is really taking a toll on Connecticut Attorney General William Tong.
You could see the pain in his face and feel it in his words as he spoke on November 7th about the election results being "disorienting" and "disappointing."
He promised to protect illegal immigrants, abortions and LGBTQ+ rights. He promised to keep blaming grocery stores on high prices and to ensure families still have access to poisonous vaccines. And he's going to keep up the climate fight, too.
He announced a new abortion hotline the next day, November 8th, with left-wing activist group "Reproductive Equity Now" and also moaned about "the risks and the threats ahead" of the incoming Trump Administration.
He spoke at the Stamford Ferguson Library on November 12th, where he made it once again "crystal clear" that the state of Connecticut will "respect, honor, protect and defend" abortions, illegal immigrants, and LGBTQ+ rights while at the same time he instilled fear about those issues.
He warned illegal immigrants to keep a low profile and set up a "telephone tree to figure out who gets called when and by whom, and make sure you have pro bono lawyers set up and ready to go.”
“Be careful what you say, be careful what you do,” Tong cautioned illegals in the audience.
Tong further promised zero cooperation with "federal roundups, except for violent offenses" and reminded that Connecticut is a sanctuary state. But he warned that might not be enough to stop the feds from shipping illegals straight back to their home countries where they legally belong.
Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons reminded attendees on Tuesday that local law enforcement will not ask for immigration status, state and local authorities do not have to share information with ICE, and authorities are allowed to warn illegals in Connecticut if ICE is requesting their detention.
That's what it means to be a sanctuary city in a sanctuary state.
Tong hit the road again last night, November 14th, this time making an appearance in Westport.
“I know a lot of people are concerned, afraid and scared. I’m scared too. Let’s just acknowledge that the last few days haven’t made it any better," said Tong who is clearly still having a tough time processing Trump's resounding win.
“As the attorney general of this state, let me also just express that I don’t have any good answers for what happened," lamented Tong. "So if anybody’s expecting me to figure it all out, I’m just as stunned as many of you are."
“I thought that it was all heading in the right direction, that we had the right candidate, the right message," said Tong. "Speaking as a Democrat, it feels very much like we were out of position, and it’ll take some time to unpack all of that and to figure out what happened.”
The first Chinese-American attorney general in the United States needs help to unpack why so many freedom-loving Americans voted against communism?
By the way, Tong has had a close relationship with CCP Ambassador Huang Ping for years.
Tong took credit for initially reaching out to Ambassador Ping in March 2020 to strike a deal with the communists for personal protective equipment ("PPE") equipment during the covid plandemic.
On April 2, 2020, Tong, along with Governor Ned Lamont, wrote to Ping to formally, humbly request China's assistance in obtaining PPE, including face masks that never actually stopped covid.
On May 12, 2020, Connecticut received a massive shipment from China that included six million surgical masks, 500,000 protective masks, 100,000 surgical gowns and 100,000 temporal thermometers.
Tong said, "I was proud to join with Chinese Ambassador Huang Ping, the Consul General in New York, and Fairfield County based Chinese-Americans to facilitate the largest ever shipment of PPE to our state’s frontline first responders and medical personnel."
The following year, 2021, Tong along with a blue state coalition of attorneys general would go onto demand that Facebook and Twitter censor the free speech of Americans under the guise of "vaccine disinformation."
Those sharing factual information about covid vaccines, like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and the group Connecticut Residents Against Medical Mandates, were subsequently censored, banned and kicked off social media platforms thanks to the unprecedented attack on free speech by Tong and his blue state coalition.
No wonder Tong is so "concerned, afraid and scared" lately.
