Not a day goes by since the July electric bills were first opened by CT residents that there isn't a comment on how high one's bill is or in regards to "Public Benefits".

The Public Benefits charge was defined for one's bill during COVID when everyone was locked down, and the General Assembly was working, masked or virtually, under the three years of Emergency Orders. You remember that, right?

A member of the Connecticut legislature, State Rep. Jennifer Leeper, recently penned an article entitled, CT's Utilities Are Broken. Her suggestion"

"In the interim, I hope our Energy and Technology Committee will convene a public information session..."

    What?

She wants to let the public suffer by paying fees for energy that they didn't use themselves, but that other people used? How long should we continue doing that? Until the next CGA Session in January 2025?

    Great spin, Rep. Leeper!

But the fact of the matter is that many people will be unable to afford their electric bill if the legislature doesn't convene, post haste! It is a true emergency!

Socialism is paying for others' things - like paying other people's electric bills -- we know what it looks like when we see it.

Gov. Lamont wanted extensions to keep the federal gravy train going - ARPA -- and so why not redirect some ARPA funds to cover the "public benefit" aka "COVID" portion of everyone's electric bills? Why weren't the ARPA funds allocated for COVID as designated in the first place? Isn't that the real question?

The Republicans want it-- what's wrong with the Democrats not reaching across the aisle?

Show some compassion and get this done. NOW!
