Wilton held its 4th annual Pride Festival on Sunday, themed “Our Truth, Our Pride.”

More than two dozen “pride partners” supported the festival, including local businesses, the YMCA, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, UConn DMHAS, the Wilton Democrat Town Committee, Wilton Library, Wilton Police Department, Wilton Social Services, and even the Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The festival featured a full day of activities, food and drinks, a pride market, and entertainment — including a drag performance on the Town Green.

Republican First Selectman Toni Boucher issued a proclamation designating June as “LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in the Town of Wilton, Connecticut.”

Young people were encouraged to stand up in front of the community and share “their lived experiences” with attendees.

"Lived experiences" about their sexuality?

Plenty of young children attended the event, which included bubbles, balloons, face painting, and crafts. It also featured a "queen performance" by Sienna Rose on the Town Green.

Parents smiled and clapped while their young children watched with bewildered and confused expressions as the drag queen performed.

Nothing screams “family-friendly entertainment” quite like a man in knee-high stiletto boots, fishnets, and garish makeup gyrating on the ground in front of small children in the middle of the afternoon.

Better yet, why not invite the little kids up to help collect the crumpled dollar bills thrown on the ground as tips for the drag queen?
