To redress the shameful neglect Governor Ned “Lefty” Lamont is showing to the 250th Birthday celebration of our nation on the Mall in Washington DC, Betsy McCaughey is flying to the Capitol on Friday morning to outfit the State Fair cubicle reserved for the state of Connecticut.
It is currently empty and sad looking. It’s a disgrace. Politicians should be able to put aside their partisan rancor and join with pride in celebrating our history. But Connecticut Democrats are boycotting, refusing to put anything on display to show off the state’s role in our founding.
McCaughey will put on display four portraits of great Connecticut leaders, including the three Connecticut framers of the US Constitution, and patriot Nathan Hale. The three framers are Oliver Ellsworth, Roger Sherman, and William Samuel Johnson. McCaughey wrote a prize winning biography of Johnson, entitled From Loyalist to Founding Father, published by Columbia University Press.
On Friday afternoon, she will join a great patriot, E. Reese Hopkins, for his Reese on the Radio broadcast live from the Connecticut booth. Reese is the WTIC afternoon talk host.
“Blue state lefties are embarrassing themselves and shaming the Democratic Party by boycotting this 250th Birthday celebration of America. But liberty loving, proud Americans are stepping up,” McCaughey said.
