Dr. Michael Goldstein, a physician and attorney and Candidate for U.S. Congress (CT-04), received an Emergency Resolution to endorse his candidacy for U.S. Congress from the Medical Society of the State of New York (“MSSNY”).

Pursuant to the by-laws of the MSSNY, to propose an emergency resolution for consideration, such proposals require a 3/4 majority of the several hundred Delegates in attendance to become the business of the House of the Delegates. This Emergency Resolution passed without any objections.

The Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) is an organization of approximately 20,000 licensed physicians, medical residents, and medical students in New York State. MSSNY Members are a diverse group that includes all ethnic groups, people with disabilities, and/or sexual gender minorities.

This is the first time in recent history that the MSSNY has endorsed a candidate that is not an incumbent.

One specific reason for supporting Dr. Goldstein was stated in the resolution that “Physicians need more physicians in Congress to represent their interests” and as a Congressman, Dr. Goldstein can make a meaningful contribution and impact in Congress for healthcare.

Dr. Goldstein is grateful for the support of MSSNY that he has been a long-time member. In addition to his membership on MSSNY, Dr. Goldstein has been a member of the Board of Directors of the New York County Medical Society. He has served in a leadership capacity and was the President of the New York County Medical Society from 2015-2017. He later served as a Trustee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the New York County Medical Society. Dr. Goldstein is a Delegate of the New York County Medical Society to House of Delegates of the Medical Society of the State of New York. He has been active in the political activities of both the County and State Medical Societies. During his presidency, he fostered collaboration between the County Medical Societies of New York City.

Dr. Goldstein posted on his social media platforms:

“This past weekend I attended the House of Delegates of the Medical Society of the State of New York. Doctors from all four corners of New York State attended. They represent urban, rural and suburban communities. The delegates are Democrats, Republicans, conservatives, moderates and liberals. The several hundred delegates passed a resolution endorsing my candidacy for Congress in the 4th Congressional District of Connecticut. This type of resolution is unusual and usually reserved for incumbents. Learn more about of my campaign at www.goldsteinforcongress.com.

Dr. Goldstein believes that this resolution further demonstrates his appeal to a diverse group of voters from all political, socio-economic, ethnic, religious demographics. This support will lead to greater interest to his candidacy inside and outside of Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District. This nomination also demonstrates that healthcare issues are important to all voters especially as healthcare and healthcare costs affect all voters.

    The Resolution is as follows:

This endorsement counters the naysayers like CT State Rep Steve Meskers (D-150), a Greenwich RTM member from district 6 who rejected at the RTM's 09/18/2023 held meeting Dr. Goldstein's nomination to serve on the board of the town-owned Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home. CT & our country needs legislators who are trustworthy, well educated, analytical, and qualified like Dr. Michael Goldstein. Best of luck for a successful campaign and win for this position of public service and trust.
