Easton voters have a vote tomorrow, February 11th, on the EMS building project referendum.

The people put their faith in the officers and committees of our town, and at the Town Meeting expect to receive a committee presentation, here by the EMS building Committee, in order to make a choice in voting on the project.

The people expected to come to a special town meeting with all information to be able to make an informed decision for the upcoming vote. That didn't happen.

Out of the gate, the meeting moderator made an egregious mistake in deeming certain meeting speakers pro and against the project. What?!?

Then the materials were very thin in reasoning for this $4.1 million dollar project. It's a building refurbishing, not a new build. The EMS building Committee chair presentation provided information, but in being aware of issues along the way, by way of reading/ attending Board of Selectmen (BOS) and Board of Finance (BOF) meetings in the past three years, the presentation lacked in material information, i.e., construction details of the build was a base estimate instead of actual.

While I posed the Point of Order to the moderator's mistake, one could understand that this was a major issue, violating Robert Rules and putting the Town Meeting off it's course.

Why did that happen?

Why wasn't the Easton emergency services consultant report included? They were hired to review our Fire and EMS system.

There's a great deal of information now that one can review, including the video of the special Town Meeting https://vimeo.com/showcase/easton-town-meetings

As well, a few FB websites with information, and postcards that were mailed out by an organization I have been affiliated with, 'Citizens for Responsible Government', a bipartisan fiscal watchdog group who wants the best for Easton's People.

Living in Connecticut is expensive enough, so let make sure the process is checked over and over - due diligence for spending our money.

Check out the information and make an informed decision Tuesday.
