The Danbury chapter of the National Education Association spent time on Saturday canvassing with a progressive activist group that doxxes law enforcement agents to "share a hotline community members can call to report ICE sightings" in order to protect illegals in the school system.
"Danbury's teachers know that when our undocumented students feel safe, they can focus on learning," said NEA Danbury, after spending Saturday morning door-knocking for their "Families Belong Together" campaign with Danbury Unites for Immigrants -- the same group that previously likened ICE's actions to "ethnic cleansing."
The post was liked by Julie Kushner, the state senator who recently voted to "protect illegals" in courthouses.
Kushner also seems to think illegals are entitled to health care, insurance, and SNAP benefits meant for American citizens.
It's worth remembering that Kushner previously accepted an Amistad Award from the Connecticut Communist Party and received the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) Excellence in Education Advocacy Award — an award also bestowed upon Connecticut Attorney General William Tong.
NEA Danbury's post drew hundreds of comments — more pro-ICE comments than anti-ICE comments — which is likely the reason that NEA Danbury decided to limit who could comment on the post.

"My job as a teacher is not political, nor do I espouse political views in the classroom," wrote Michael Alltop, a 7th grade English teacher at Westside Middle School Academy in Danbury. "I have no idea about whether anyone in my classroom is “illegal” (such a hateful term), nor do I care. All I care about are the young people before me as we engage with literature and writing, using EVIDENCE, which is something that the haters would do well to educate themselves with."
Alltop took some heat for admitting that he attended a fundraiser for Danbury Unites for Immigrants -- in a "building full of illegals" without notifying "ICE like a dutiful American."
Another person suggested that Alltop should start taking illegals into his own home to care for them so they aren't draining resources intended for legal citizens of this country.
A retired teacher from Sandy Hook, Barbara Allen, wanted to know what she could do to help illegals, and it was suggested that she "donate her taxpayer paid pension."
A number of people pointed out that illegals "cut to the front of the line" ahead of legal immigrants who worked hard to follow the proper immigration process, and argued that "Hispanics outvote Caucasian people with wanting illegals deported."
One man, Christopher Sennello, actually suggested that people should "flood" ICE with fake reports... of course it's a crime to make false reports to a law enforcement agency.

Bottom line, more people were alarmed by the idea that the union was "actively encouraging your staff and neighbors to break the law and harbor criminals" than people who wanted to protect illegals.
The overall message was that "Danbury Schools have a C- rating so maybe you should concentrate on actual American Citizens!!!!"
