"Lily" from Dare to Struggle Connecticut (DTS CT) put out a video this morning, calling on all high school and college students from all around the state to join the nationwide "walkout to end ICE terror" on Friday.
"We cannot let ICE continue to kidnap, separate families, and murder people in cold blood. We cannot let the deaths of Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and Keith Porter be in vain!" said the post, noting "Lily was arrested along with 2 other DtS activists last August in New Britain for protesting against a gentrifying business discriminating against homeless people."
Lily wants to "let students know that they should not be afraid to walkout, that any repression brought upon them can be fought and won!"
DTS CT planned walkouts for February 13th at noon in New Haven and 2pm in Hartford.
"If you're afraid, if you see all the shit going on, if you see other people afraid around you, ICE is killing people, kidnapping people, sending kids away in detention centers, deporting them, treating people in detention centers like shit, all this shit's going on," says Lily. "And it's not going to stop unless we do something about it."
"We're not gonna be scared, we're gonna stand up, we're gonna keep fighting," Lily promised. "Whether it's the pigs in New Britain, whether it's the gentrifiers in New Britain, whether it's the pigs running through our streets with ICE vests, a pig is a pig, we need to stand up to it."
Lily said this week's walkouts are just the beginning of their "Spring Surge to melt ICE."
"Let's f*cking smash the machine," said Lily.
The group met at the New Haven Public Library last week to develop their protest plans.
DTS CT is part of the national Dare to Struggle, a multinational activist organization open to anyone who wants to resist, join the collective struggle, and fight to stop injustice, oppression, gentrification, homelessness, poverty and the "American nightmare."

"Immigrants continue to be exploited in essential jobs, detained and deported, and vilified by a virulent anti-immigrant racism. American patriarchy, whether in the form of Christian fundamentalism, rape culture, or crass objectification, continues to subject women and LGBTQ people to subjugation, discrimination, and violence," argues DTS.
They think "capitalism-created climate change" threatens the very "existence of humanity" and that a "massive fascist social base amped up during Trump’s presidency" continues to "commit violence in the name of white supremacy."
Their website glorifies activists like the Young Lords, the Black Panther Party, the Revolutionary Communist Party USA, and Anti-Racist Action, an anarchist group that "pulled up on Klan and Nazi rallies" and got into "fist fights with white supremacists."

The group's name echoes the Maoist slogan "Dare to struggle, dare to win," which shouldn't be a surprise considering the group follows the "basic principles of the mass line method of leadership" of Mao Zedong.
"Mao put it well back in 1943, in a way that’s sadly even more applicable to our situation today than the context he was writing in," wrote DTS, citing the following quote from Mao:
“We Communists must be able to integrate ourselves with the masses in all things. If our Party members spend their whole lives sitting indoors and never go out to face the world and brave the storm, what good will they be to the Chinese people? None at all, and we do not need such people as Party members. We Communists ought to face the world and brave the storm, the great world of mass struggle and the mighty storm of mass struggle.”
Have any of these DTS commies learned the actual history of Mao's China? Do they know about the Great Famine and the Cultural Revolution? And how Mao is recognized as the biggest mass murder in the history of the world?
