Today, Do No Harm launched a first-of-its-kind national database of hospitals and medical facilities administering irreversible sex change interventions on children in the United States.
The Stop the Harm Database can be found at StopTheHarmDatabase.com and catalogs pediatric sex change-related services, including surgeries, cross-sex hormones, and puberty blockers, at U.S.-based medical facilities between 2019 and 2023. The data is searchable by state and facility.
“With the launch of the Stop the Harm Database, Do No Harm is building on our mission to expose the dangers of experimental pediatric gender medicine and bring the practice to an end,” said Do No Harm Chairman Dr. Stanley Goldfarb. “This first-of-its-kind project provides patients, families, and policymakers with a resource that reveals the pervasiveness of irreversible sex-change treatments for minors in America. While this data represents the tip of the iceberg, this is the first step in holding the medical establishment accountable for participating in, and often times promoting, predatory and unscientific medical interventions for vulnerable children.”
“This new project from Do No Harm proves the lies from the medical establishment and radical politicians who argue that cases like mine are rare,” said Do No Harm Senior Fellow and Patient Advocate Chloe Cole. “The stats in this database represent thousands of kids who are being treated like Guinea pigs for unproven, and sometimes dangerous, medical experiments. I hope politicians and parents alike use this database to see where these treatments are happening and protect their children from being rushed into irreversible, life-altering treatments.”
These numbers are just scratching the surface of how widespread these practices truly are.
Additionally, the Stop the Harm Database profiles the most prolific institutions and providers engaged in these dangerous and unsupported interventions. These hospitals, the “Dirty Dozen,” represent the 12 worst-offending children’s hospitals promoting sex change treatments for minors:
Between 2019 and 2023, a total of 97 patients in the state of Connecticut sought sex changes, including 46 surgery patients and 55 hormone and puberty blocker patients.
Two children's hospitals provided services, including Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.
Connecticut Children's is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit healthcare provider which offers hormone therapy and surgical procedures to children. The Gender Program follows the pseudoscientific advice of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and pushes to start conversations about things like pronouns as early as possible.
How early you might wonder? Well, the reading list includes “The Pronoun Book” for children ages 0-3, “The Bare Naked Book” for children ages 3-6, and “Sex Is A Funny Word” for children ages 8-10.
According to Do No Harm, the head of the Connecticut Children's program, Dr. Priya Phulwani, has claimed that puberty blockers are “reversible” but this is not true. She also falsely claimed there was only a “very, very slim” chance that gender dysphoric adolescents would change their mind about their gender identity once they hit puberty, even though the truth is that most kids grow out of gender dysphoria.
The Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital also offers a Pediatric Gender Care program that includes puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and sex change surgeries. The Yale program is led by Dr. Christy Olezeski, the doctor who was criticized for explaining in a video, which has since been taken down, that Yale's pediatric program “helps children as young as 3 years old with their ‘gender journey.’”
Olezeski has also stated that it is “completely normal for prepubescent children to explore their gender identity and expression.” And she's even on the record with an op-ed that argues in favor of teaching critical race theory to children.
The other facilities in the state that made the Do No Harm list include: Stamford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, Hartford Hospital, Griffin Hospital, Hartford Healthcare, Middlesex Hospital, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital, UConn John Dempsey Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Yale University, Guilford Surgery Center, The Hospital of Central Connecticut New Britain, Nuvance Health, St. Vincent's Medical Center, St. Michael Medical Center, Greenwich Hospital, VCU Medical Center Main Hospital, Johnson Memorial Hospital, Manchester Memorial Hospital, Hartford Pathology, and MHS Primary Care, along with a few independent and plastic surgery facilities.
The top two prescribers of hormone and puberty blockers are The Hospital of Central Connecticut New Britain and Yale New Haven Hospital.
The hospitals with the most dollars in charges submitted for transgender services are Stamford Hospital ($174,495) and Norwalk Hospital ($136,124).
Hartford Hospital is tops in the list for the number of surgery patients (14).
