GLSEN has been in the spotlight this Pride Month after retailers like Target came under fire for supporting the controversial group that promotes radical gender ideology in K-12 schools, and encourages schools to hide gender transitions from parents.
Not just that, but GLSEN is also a strong advocate for including transgender students in sports. That means allowing a student to decide which gender they identify with, and honoring that decision without question. Even if that means biological boys competing alongside biological girls in a contact sport like rugby, for instance.
In fact, GLSEN delivered public comments in May in response to the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed Title IX athletics rule.
They key recommendations include:
The letter that summarized the public comments was signed by GLSEN, The American School Counselor Association, interACT: Advocates for Intersex Youth, the National Association of School Psychologists, the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Education Association teacher's union.
A long list of other national organizations joined in signing the letter, including: American Atheists, the National Black Justice Coalition, the National Organization for Women (NOW), the National PTA, Parents Across America, SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change, and Stand With Trans, among others.
State and local organizations that signed the letter include the Connecticut Association of School Psychologists, the Connecticut Council of Administrators in Special Education and GLSEN Connecticut.
How many conservative teachers in the union are aware that the NEA signed this letter?
How many school psychologists agree with the view that "injury prevention" and "fairness in competition" should not be considered factors for biological boys playing in sports, especially contact sports, with biological girls?
How many parents know that some of their PTA contributions are being used to support Title IX lobbying efforts to protect biological boys playing in girls sports so long as they identify as girls?
