At the Greenwich Board of Education meeting tonight, Board Democrats seemingly ignored the Freedom of Information Commission (FOIC) ruling on their power grab, which was finalized at the October 22nd FOIC meeting.

Our understanding is that FOIC rulings can be appealed to Connecticut Superior Court, but there is "no applicable stay" so the rulings "are enforceable immediately."

So it was quite a surprise, then, to see Jen Behette seated at the BOE meeting tonight, as if she were a legitimate BOE member, when the FOIC ruling clearly stated that the special meeting where she was installed had been declared "null and void."

Greenwich Patriots founder Jackie Homan spoke at the meeting tonight.

Here's what she said:

The Freedom of Information Commission ruled yesterday that the actions Board Democrats Karen Hirsh, Laura Kostin, Sophie Koven, and Kathleen Stowe took at the October 21st meeting last year – the sham emergency meeting where Democrats pulled their coup – have been declared null and void.

Hirsh, Kostin, Koven, and Stowe not only conspired to illegally install their own preferred candidate, Jen Behette, into the open Republican seat against the will of the Board Republicans, but after that, Board Democrats held sham officer elections, and conducted Board business, taking votes for nearly a year with an illegitimate BOE member. 

The preliminary ruling came out 13 days ago, so surely the Board of Education and School knew the final decision was imminent.

And yet for some reason, you’re all sitting here pretending what you did was legit, continuing the charade – even the imposter Board member is here!  

Acting Chair Hirsh, is it BOE policy to reject a ruling from the Freedom of Information Commission?  Is it also BOE policy to deny the online meeting link to sworn-in Board member Paul Cappiali?

You seem to have had no problem providing that link to an illegitimate Board member for nearly a year, but since your side of the “Town v. Town” lawsuit doesn’t think Cappiali is legit, you seem to think it’s okay to deny him the ability to participate in meetings?  Why not afford the Board Republicans the same privilege you gave yourselves?  Why the hypocrisy?  

Also, when I go onto the School’s website, I still see Hirsh listed as Chair, Behette as Vice-Chair and Kostin as Secretary.  

Is it BOE policy to knowingly post sham officer appointments and misinformation on an official government page – and at the same time restrict information on a sworn-in BOE member?

Also, I just wanted to say to you, Ms. Hirsh, Ms. Behette, Ms. Kostin, Ms. Koven and Ms. Stowe that what you did was absolutely disgusting and despicable and I don’t know how you sleep at night after you attempted to screw over the good people of Greenwich – your own neighbors – by installing a crony in a blatant power grab.

Then you had the audacity to sit there for nearly a whole year and pretend like you had the moral high ground despite the illegitimately-appointed member and your sham officer elections  – and then after the preliminary ruling came out instead of apologizing, you doubled-down.

You should all resign in shame, except for Ms. Behette because I don’t know how you resign from a position to which you were never legally appointed in the first place.

And in addition to apologizing for your outrageous behavior, you, the Board Democrats, should cover all of the legal expenses the town has incurred on both sides because the taxpaying citizens of Greenwich absolutely do not want to to get stuck with the bill for your now-failed coup.
