And people wonder why so many teens are struggling with mental health!

It's not a surprise to most people that the U.S. is facing a national mental health crisis among teens.

A CDC study in 2023 revealed that 40% of high school students had persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness, 20% had considered attempting suicide, and 9% actually did attempt suicide.

Sure, the covid plandemic contributed to the crisis and so does social media, but they aren't the only factors.

Another factor derives from the curriculum being pushed in schools these days, like Greenwich High School's 11th grade "Health & Safety Education Course for example.

The class focuses on mental health concepts, such as stress management, anxiety, depression and youth suicide. It talks about various types of violent acts and why violence occurs, specifically citing "gun violence" as an example, injecting a progressive talking point into the curriculum.

Then comes the subtle introduction to the tenets of critical race theory, as students are asked to think about discrimination and diversity, along with risk factors for violence and how those factors change based on whether you are a victim (oppressed) or a perpetrator (oppressor).

This is where the Anti-Defamation League's "Pyramid of Hate" enters the discussion.

The Pyramid of Hate teaches students that the hate of genocide is built upon the acceptance of behaviors described in the lower levels of the pyramid.

That means you just might be providing foundational support for genocide if you demonstrate a "lack of awareness" of your own privilege or if you use "non-inclusive language" or even if you oppose "voter restrictions" like requiring proof of US citizenship.

The student training module argues that "everyone is biased" -- even if you don't know it -- and that your biased thinking is connected to all the other levels on the Pyramid of Hate.

The training says that acts of bias and microaggressions are committed against "identity groups" like transgender people, for example, and you're probably guilty whether you know it or not. It also argues there is systemic discrimination built into everything in our society, from criminal justice to housing, from banking to politics, so it's time to "repair the harm done to targeted groups."

That means if you are willing to confront your own personal biases and become an ally, you can help topple the Pyramid of Hate, end genocide and feel morally superior about your choice.

If you aren't willing to admit to your privilege and atone for your presumed biased ways, then you're probably going to feel really guilty, and maybe even stressed, anxious and/or depressed about helping to lay the foundation for genocide.

Gee, that must be a really uplifting class, huh?

Have these people ever considered that teaching students to feel guilty about who they are and their perceived privilege directly contributes to student stress, anxiety and depression levels? So does telling students they are committing microaggressions against people, like "misgendering" someone, even if they don't know it, and therefore they are unwittingly contributing to genocide.

Greenwich school officials indicated the curriculum "has been reviewed and approved by our central office" so they apparently see no issues with it or with the use of ADL's Pyramid of Hate.

By the way, it's worth mentioning that Greenwich Public Schools ("GPS") participates in the ADL's "No Place for Hate" program, which is probably why the Pyramid of Hate showed up in 11th grade health in the first place.

Coincidentally, a few years ago, we obtained the ”No Place for Hate” Coordinator Handbook & Resource Guide from GPS through a Freedom of Information request. The Handbook, which was dated 2020-2021, featured chapters such as Schools Need to Foster Social Justice, Using Correct Pronouns and Names, Identity & Culture, Creating an Anti-Bias Learning Environment, and of course, the Pyramid of Hate activity.

We recommend taking a look through the Handbook -- you might be surprised at what the "No Place for Hate" program is really about.

For the record we have contacted Greenwich Schools to obtain the current training materials that go along with "No Place For Hate" -- a program which ADL has offered for the last 25 years.

But it's pretty clear from ADL’s website, that it's still all about promoting the tenets of critical race and social justice theory.
