Senator Richard "Da Nang Dick" Blumenthal, ranking member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, sent a letter to Acting CDC Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya seeking information about a decision by CDC leadership not to publish a study on Covid-19 vaccine effectiveness.
Blumenthal said the decision the "represents yet another troubling instance of politicized science at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Trump Administration."
The publication had reportedly been delayed to assess methodological concerns with the study. Ultimately, CDC declined to publish the study.
"Given your opposition to public health measures during the coronavirus pandemic, your willingness to entertain discredited theories about the mRNA technology on which COVID-19 vaccines are based, and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s lengthy history of hostility toward vaccination generally, infectious disease researchers are rightly concerned that your explanation for failing to publish the study is little more than a smokescreen," argued Blumenthal.
Dick further blamed the the Trump Administration’s "relentless politicization of science, particularly when it comes to vaccines" -- the irony in this statement after experiencing what Democrats did during the covid plandemic is not lost on the Centinal.
"The intent of this overt politicization of science is clear," asserted Blumenthal. "The Trump Administration wants to hide evidence of the enormous benefits vaccines provide to the American people."
Blumenthal alleged that the study was blocked from publication because it conflicted with Trump Administration priorities.
"Blocking from publication a study that has been approved by career scientists because its findings conflict with the administration’s political priorities impedes scientific progress, and will only further weaken Americans’ trust in researchers and the scientific process," said Blumenthal, ignoring the fact that trust in vaccine science has been weakened as a direct result of dangerous covid vaccines that were repeatedly positioned as "safe and effective."
The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations requested that Bhattacharya produce a list of items by by May 7, 2026, including:
