By Coach Dian & Nurse Becca
You know the moment. Five minutes with the pediatrician, one rushed answer, and you’re back in the car googling the same question six different ways before you even leave the parking lot. Connecticut parents deserve better than that. So we built it.
We’re Coach Dian and Nurse Becca, co-founders of Building Blocks for Life, a family wellness community launching right here in Connecticut. This is our first article (blog?), and it won’t be our last. Consider it an introduction, and an invitation.
Here’s what Building Blocks for Life is not: another app handing you a generic checklist, or a clinical practice standing between you and your own family’s decisions. Here’s what it is: parents finding each other. Real people, real answers, real backup.
Everything we do runs through four pillars: Eat Well, Live Well, Move Well, Care Well. Nutrition, environment, movement, emotional health, treated as one connected system instead of four separate problems. We pull from functional medicine, integrative health, and ancestral wellness traditions, and we hand you real starting points, not more rules to follow.
But resources are only half the story. The real reason we built this is for the community. We want Connecticut parents to actually meet each other: local meetups where you put a face to a name, expert sessions where you finally ask the question you didn’t get to ask at the doctor’s office, celebrations for the wins, big and small. Parenting is hard to do without witnesses. We’re done doing it alone.
This is for every stage of the family journey. Preparing for parenthood, deep in the toddler years, navigating the teenage ones, or supporting your own grown kids as they raise the next generation. If you want the best for your kids and you’re not afraid to ask hard questions, this is built for you.
One more thing, and we want to be straight with you: what you’re reading about is our Connecticut chapter, launched first, on purpose. This is home for both of us, so we started here, where we could get honest feedback fast and build it right before going further. The plan is bigger: chapters in states and regions across the country, each one built on the same idea, parents supporting parents, close to home. Every chapter starts somewhere. Ours starts with our neighbors.
We’ll use this space to dig into what actually matters: what “food as medicine” looks like on a Tuesday night dinner table, how to handle screen time without the guilt spiral, why your own nervous system shapes your kids just as much as anything you teach them. Research, practitioners, straight talk.
You can find us now on social media platforms @buildingblocks4life -- Instagram and Facebook. Our website is launching soon so please find us at buildingblocksforlife.com. Follow along and tell us what keeps you up at night as a parent, and what you’d want a community like this to actually do for your family. Our blog will work better as a conversation than a lecture.
Welcome to Building Blocks for Life, Connecticut. Let’s build this together.
