Dr. Dwayne Smith, the Interim President of Southern Connecticut State University, sent a letter to the Southern Community in response to this year's election results.
In the letter Dr. Smith says it "feels like the right time to reaffirm our commitment to civil discourse with every member of Southern, regardless of political beliefs."
"In times like these, it’s essential that we pause, reflect, listen, and engage in dialogue that fosters understanding rather than judgment. This is a complex historical moment. We can only move forward together," writes Dr. Smith who goes on to tout his university's record on "equity and access", assuring Southern that the "work is as vital today as ever." Presumably he means the work of DEI.
He offered up some safe spaces for the community to 'gather and reflect' on what Trump's win means for them.
"Please remember support is available – you are not alone," writes Dr. Smith who goes on to offer support from Counseling Services, the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Employee Assistance Program, RAs and Hall Directors. He reminded that campus police are there to keep the campus safe and secure, too.
Dr. Smith finishes by promising that Southern will always stand for justice, equity, and inclusion.
Doesn't Dr. Smith realize the election was a referendum on DEI and social justice?
What a bunch of wussy's.
Safe Places? Sounds more like a day nursery than a university. Hey parents! Is this the way the university is teaching your "toddlers" to go out into the world? Make sure they at least learn how to wipe their own asses!
