If we could read the mind of some democrat legislators we would find they really do want to get rid of homeschool in Connecticut.  They got rid of religious exemptions for vaccination.  Since the vast majority of homeschoolers are Christians, it only follows that is their next target.

The legislation being developed behind closed doors is a hard slap in the face of homeschooling parents.  Now that the information is out in the public, the education committee no longer has the luxury of working behind closed doors.  That the committee has engaged in deceit and secrecy from day one tells parents exactly how to proceed. It starts by making clear that we tell them we know who they are.

Meeting in secret and lying a lot is exactly what the democrats are doing in the education committee. The Connecticut Centinal had an article by homeschooling attorney Deborah Stevenson about these very activities.  While families are enjoying the summer, the democrats are plotting the first step to killing homeschooling in Connecticut.

What comes next is predictable.  There will be complaints about the inadequacy of the information. Bureaucrats will demand more data.  Now there will be forms to fill out.  Homeschooling families will be subjected to more rules, and to fines, even jail. The process of discouraging home schooling will have begun by the state.

The letter was drafted by Attorney Deborah G. Stevenson.  It summarizes the deceitful acts on the key players in the state government.  These people need to hear from us.  The state is being remarkably secretive about what is supposed to be a benign proposal.  How about it is not benign?  How about there are hidden plans to impair homeschooling which we will learn about only after it is too late?

The public needs to tell the education committee that their work on this attempt to regulate home schooling is a self-destructive scam.

My Message to the Education Committee & Co.

We do not believe for one minute your representation about your secretive plans.

The committee is very disingenuous by pushing “DCF Interventions” for homeschooling and say nothing about all the other cases not involving homeschooling.  Moreover, it can’t be repeated enough.  The Waterbury case had nothing to do with homeschooling.  This simple fact just underscores your dishonesty.

The message is simple.  STOP.  You must terminate and eliminate this current deceit.  If you cannot and will not answer this question then your hypocrisy is very clear.  What are the biggest problems in state-controlled education?  Truancy?  Test Scores, perhaps?  You folks have consistently avoided addressing your systemic failures in state-controlled education.

We expect you to focus on those problems which are weighing down state-controlled education.  We expect a response from the education committee.  Your failure to address the concerns of parents will only incur more pressure.  We are waiting.
