Despite the vitriol of the leftist Politico-Media complex over a decade ago, the Tea Party was right on the issues, as those issues stand front and center on the national agenda today! The paramount principles championed by the Tea Party were limited government, unapologetic U.S. sovereignty, and constitutional originalism. I was a co-leader of the Tea Party movement in Connecticut – and proud of it.
But my opponent in this primary, Mr. Goldstein and his team, curiously seem to think my efforts to launch the issues that remain at the top of today’s national agenda are a negative. Let’s school-up team Goldstein right here.
The Tea Party emerged from Conservative and Libertarian activists’ disgust with the bank bailouts in the ’08 election cycle and President Obama’s gouging of the national treasury of a trillion dollars within 30 days of his inauguration. Obama and the politico-media machine were stunned to see tens of thousands of average Americans flood the streets coast-to-coast to oppose his obvious Socialist national agenda. That machine kicked into high gear to smear middle America as extremists because we wanted the deficit spending stopped, the border secured, and the federal departments shrunk back to their original functionalities. When they can’t contest the issues, they’re guaranteed to call you names.
In the face of endless smears, the Tea Party movement grew exponentially. You cannot back down and play into the false narrative deployed by the leftist machine – and the Tea Party forged ahead proclaiming its agenda: the primacy of the individual, limited constitutional government, balanced budgets, free-market capitalism, fair international trade, secure-border national sovereignty, and generally pushing our ruling political elite out of the micro-management of our lives. Sound familiar?
To give traction to our agenda, we surged into the offices, and town halls, of our elected officials. First up was the global-warming-driven Cap & Trade bill. Our efforts were responsible for the bill dying in committee in July ’09. We next surged into the ’09 electoral process, the state and municipal elections, where conservative Republicans scored many unexpected wins across the country. Our issues were being forced onto the national agenda. They were resonating with the public, and Republican officials were taking them up, whether they wanted to or not. For six months we lobbied mightily against ObamaCare, but lost in the House by a couple votes, and the cornerstone of socialism was slid into place at literally a midnight vote on 3-21-10.
After massive wins for our issues in the 2010 and 2014 elections, our issues were largely adopted by Donald Trump, and blended into his highly effective America First campaign agenda in 2016. And they remain today at center stage, joined for years in now an open battle with the permanent self-interested federal government, as it continues to be fought out in electoral politics, in Congress, and the courts. But today’s polling indicates we have brought a majority of the American public around to our cause.
The 4th District congressional incumbent, Jim Himes, has placed himself with his votes on the wrong side of every one of these issues – issues I have made priorities in my campaign. I’m making the campaign a referendum on Mr. Himes’ 16-year rule, because his record is profoundly vulnerable, and does not represent the interests of the citizens of the District.
I entered this race early, in March ’23 making it clear the only way to unseat Mr. Himes is to expose the “moderate” façade he so deceptively crafts in his media and local personal appearances. My taking the “hard-hitting lane” has been specifically recognized in local press articles Here and Here. I also have a 15-year public record in CT-4 espousing our foundational Constitutional Conservative issues which remain at the heart of today’s agenda – I do not waver from them.
But my primary opponent, Mike Goldstein and his surrogate writer, Joe Bentivegna have positioned him as a another Moderate here- Article and here- Article. As I document in my Perennial Democrat Trap article, they are already singing a favorite hymn from the Democrat playbook. Because the Tea Party was so effective and on-target, the Left labored hard in vain to ostracize us. And team Goldstein has now adopted their view - playing right into the hands of the organized American Left. We can only imagine what would happen to them facing an amped-up leftist machine in a General…
If you want to be sure the case will be unwaveringly prosecuted against Mr. Himes in November, I need your support, and would be honored with your vote in the August 13th Primary.
