Westport Pride is holding a "family-friendly" drag show entitled “All for Drag and Drag for All'' at MoCA on June 17th.
This year's theme is “Light Up the Night” so attendees are encouraged to wear bright, sparkly neon colors.
Doors open at 5:00pm for cocktails and pizza, and the show officially runs from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for students and $10 for children under 12 years old.
The show will include performances and a Q&A discussion with three different Connecticut-based drag queens: Angelina Fierce, Sienna Rose, and Kenya Mone Heart.
The MC of the event will be teenage LGBTQ+ activist Desmond is Amazing, whom you might recall from that viral video of the 2015 NYC Pride March because Desmond was only 8-years-old at the time and dressed in drag... and also cavorting with a number of scantily clad adult men.
Desmond was featured in a 2017 video with Michael Alig, a ’90s New York club promoter who served 17 years in prison for murdering and dismembering Angel Melendez in 1996. Alig's co-host, a former drug addict named Ernie Glam, gifted the young Desmond with a "panda hat" and shirt from his own "club kid closet" and hoped that Desmond would put it to good use.
Then in 2018, GLSEN, the controversial group accused of grooming children in school, honored Desmond at its annual gala.
The following year Desmond made the headlines once again, this time for a string of provocative performances at gay bars, where he was photographed removing articles of clothing and collecting dollar bills from a crowd of adult men at the tender age of 11. Of course, boys his age shouldn’t be allowed in gay clubs, which are often highly-sexualized spaces, let alone be allowed to perform on stage for stripper singles!
Desmond has walked runways all around the world, and has even been awarded with a clothing line and has written a book.
In early 2019, a DCF investigation was launched into the family. Many people accused Desmond's parents of grooming since they openly endorsed and encouraged Desmond's gender confusion, and put him into potentially dangerous situations, potentially including drug use.
Desmond, who goes by "they/them" pronouns is now 15 years old, and still in high school.
While generally retired from doing drag since 2020, Desmond still chooses to perform or host drag shows on a selective basis for both non-profit and family-friendly events.
So it looks like Westport Pride is celebrating the sexualization of this teenager, all for the sake of a "family friendly" drag show and the opportunity to make a few bucks.
Fairfield has its own pedo-fest as well.
