Rumors and innuendo have naturally swirled around the assassination attempt on the life of Donald Trump at his Saturday Pennsylvania rally.
New video makes the case more strongly than ever that the lack of response was either gross incompetence on the part of US Secret Service (USSS) and/or local law enforcement, or worse, a "stand-down" order from USSS and/or local police.
In the video, multiple rally attendees point out the shooter, Thomas Crooks, to law enforcement. Crooks is clearly dressed in civilian clothing, not the black or navy blue uniforms worn by USSS/police sniper teams. His prone position and movements are not those of a professional.
"Officer! Officer!" a man shouts. "He's on the roof, flat!" a woman yells, "Right here, flat on the roof, he went flat on the roof again!"
Further confounding the case, reports of the event now claim that Crooks was confronted by a local police officer before firing on Trump. The officer climbed a ladder leading to the rooftop where Crooks was stationed. Crooks pointed his rifle at the officer, who retreated back down the ladder.
This is shocking, downright difficult to believe on several levels. A young man who worked in a hospital rehabilitation center got the jump on a trained officer who presumably had foreknowledge there was a threat on the roof? And he simply backed down? And didn't immediately alert USSS, or fire a warning shot?
More to come as this story develops.
