North Mianus Elementary School in Greenwich just announced a school-wide visit by liberal author Kate Messner, who wrote Dr. Fauci | How a Boy from Brooklyn Became America's Doctor and the History Smashers series, among other titles.
She has recently come under fire for pushing progressive issues in books targeted to children.
For instance, her book History Smashers: Women’s Right to Vote highlights DeJuana Thompson, the founder of Woke Vote and LaTosha Brown, from the Black Voters Matter Fund (which is funded by George Soros' Open Society Foundations). One review of the book suggested that it spent more time telling children how to feel towards these women than it did educating them about women's right to vote. The book suggests that the suffrage movement was led by racists, bigots, and xenophobes who held back the movement’s goal. It even features election-denier Stacey Abrams, whom Messner alleges lost for governor in Georgia "partly because of a large number of uncounted votes in Black communities".
Messner was absolutely thrilled to interview Dr. Fauci on May 21, 2021, about her book that propped the flip-flopping doctor onto a pedestal, Dr. Fauci | How a Boy From Brooklyn Became America's Doctor. She gleefully promoted ineffective masks, arbitrary social distancing guidance, and experimental covid vaccines in the book. She mislead children into believing that being vaccinated for covid would make you a superhero. And even spread the myth that getting vaccinated for covid stops you from spreading covid.
In some of her books, Messner subtly infuses critical race theory concepts.
Like the book The Next President which explains that John Adams, “was the only one of the first five presidents who didn’t enslave people" and that Thomas Jefferson “had written the Declaration of Independence, which includes the words ‘all men are created equal’—even though Jefferson enslaved hundreds of people on his Virginia plantation.”
At the end of The Next President, Messner says, “the truth is America’s earliest presidents weren’t all that different from one another. Most were wealthy, white, Protestant men who might have been surprised if they’d been around to see a Catholic or an African American man elected president… or a woman nominated by a major party for the highest office in the land.” Note the inclusion of failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the hall of presidential portraits.
Messner says its heartbreaking to hear that libraries are abandoning the Marxist-led American Library Association (ALA), an organization that has come under fire for promoting sexually-explicit, age-inappropriate books to young children and for ALA President Emily Drabinski's suggestion that libraries be used as socialist recruiting grounds. It should come as no surprise that she supports efforts to keep inappropriate books in front of children, including the ALA's "United Against Book Bans" movement.
She even suggested that the parental rights movement undermines "the freedom to learn".
Her agenda seems to line up perfectly with the National PTA's far left agenda on these things, so it should not come as a surprise that the local PTA picked Messner for this school-wide event.
