Norwich Police Department announced on Facebook that they are aware of offensive antisemitic graffiti with swastikas discovered in locations on the city's Westside on February 21, 2025.
The scene is located near Exit 11 on Interstate 395. The largest symbol on Old Salem Road featured President Donald Trump's name spray-painted beneath it. Another swastika was found on an I-395 overpass along Salem Turnpike, police said.
Photos spread quickly on social media, along with urgent calls to remove the offensive graffiti.
Some people on social media are at odds over whether the graffiti was done by Republicans or Democrats, with one commenter charging, "I'm not sure I follow haven't you been calling Trump a Nazi?" which prompted the response, "Trump is a Nazi, but we don’t paint swastikas."
"This type of vandalism is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of our community," wrote Norwich Police on Facebook.
"We want to assure the public that the Norwich Police Department is diligently investigating this matter. Our officers are working swiftly to gather all available evidence, and we are committed to identifying those responsible for this criminal act. The Department will take all necessary legal action to prosecute the individuals involved," the police continued.
The police are asking anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. You can contact the Norwich Police Department at (860) 886-5561.
