"Distinguished lecturer" and Pulitzer Prize-winner Susan Campbell, a veteran journalist with 25 years under her belt at Hearst Media, just published an opinion entitled, "A Trump Revenge Tour stop in CT" in CT Insider.
What does Trump's "revenge tour" consist of, you might wonder?
Arresting criminal illegals.
Specifically, Campbell references Operation Broken Trust, the four-day enforcement operation in Connecticut, from Aug. 12 - Aug. 15, 2025, which targeted transnational organized crime, gangs, and egregious offenders.
Among the 65 arrested, 29 had been convicted or charged in the United States with serious crimes, including kidnapping, assault, drug offenses, weapons violations, and sex crimes.
But Campbell doesn't believe the folks arrested were criminals, nor does she trust anything the Trump Administration or ICE has to say or even seem inclined to further investigate the alleged criminal charges.
Instead she blasts the Trump Admin as an "illegitimate regime" whose "favorite chariot for delivering pain" is a "windowless van with plenty of room in which to throw a zip-tied someone on the way to taking them to God-knows-where."
She is particularly outraged at the thought that Trump might hold cities and states accountable for breaking his Executive Orders (or federal immigration law for that matter).
She further accuses ICE of operating without due process and out of pure financial greed.
Campbell warns "the land of steady habits is being invaded and we must act accordingly" before she goes onto describe other dictators whose "chariots of lawlessness" preceded Trump's "SUVs with darkened, sometimes barred windows."
She started with Hitler, of course, then moved onto Argentina’s Dirty War where 30,000 people, including pregnant women and children, "were taken to God-knows-where" before being tortured and murdered.
Campbell wants to imprint these images onto the minds of readers -- the images of brutal dictatorships using the military to kidnap and kill thousands of innocent people -- and then she wants people in Connecticut to "act accordingly" in response to that threat.
How exactly are people to "act accordingly" if they believe a dictator is going to kidnap and murder their families? Is she calling for an uprising against a duly-elected President?
"We know that neither hair length nor tattoos makes someone a criminal," writes Campbell who goes onto recount the "sad saga of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, of Maryland" whom she alleges was kidnapped multiple times by ICE.
In another wild accusation, Campbell claims that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem issued a "fact-free and libelous press release outlining Abrego Garcia’s pretend crimes" -- you know, "pretend crimes" like being a "known MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, wife beater, and child predator."
"I am not an attorney but I believe I could take that ridiculous press release, sue Noem sideways, and give [the] Abrego Garcia family a nice nest egg with which to move forward," boasts Campbell.
She closed the op ed by wishing a horrible fate for everyone in the Trump Administration who participated in the "damnable dirty war" against illegal immigration.
This hateful rhetoric, likening Trump to Hitler, and telling people to "act" as if their country is being invaded by an "illegitimate regime" that will "disappear" and maybe even murder thousands -- is reckless, dangerous and it needs to stop right now.
Shame on Hearst for giving a platform for this rubbish.
And shame on the University of New Haven, which is clearly still all-in on support for DEI, equity and "undocumented students."
