As a candidate for Town Council in West Hartford, Connecticut, I am outraged, heartbroken, and motivated like never before. Yesterday, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was gunned down in cold blood while openly debating students at Utah Valley University. This wasn't just an attack on one man, it was an assault on the very soul of America. Our sacred right to debate, disagree, and engage in open conversation without fear of violence was attacked. Make no mistake, the blood is on the hands of the mainstream media outlets, social media influencers, and those unqualified, self appointed "experts" who spew misinformation with zero regard for the deadly consequences of their words.

For years, Charlie Kirk has been a fearless warrior for free speech. Through Turning Point USA, he traveled the country, setting up tables on college campuses, inviting students of all beliefs to sit down and talk it out. His sole purpose was to foster open conversations with everyone, no matter how heated or uncomfortable. Kirk didn't shy away from tough questions; he thrived on them. He debated socialists, progressives, and skeptics, always with facts, passion, and a commitment to the truth. In a world where debate is increasingly labeled as "hate speech" or "dangerous rhetoric," Kirk became a target for the venomous lies peddled by the Democrat Party.

Let's call it what it is, misinformation on steroids. Media giants like CNN and MSNBC, along with blue check influencers on X and TikTok, have relentlessly demonized figures like Kirk, painting them as extremists, racists, or threats to democracy. They twist his words, publish quotes out of context, and amplify baseless smears without a shred of accountability. These unqualified voices have no concept of the real world fallout from their actions. Their reckless narratives don't just divide, they incite. How many times have we seen headlines screaming "Charlie Kirk spreads hate" or "Turning Point USA endangers campuses," fueling a toxic environment where deranged individuals feel justified in picking up a gun? The groundwork for this tragedy was laid long ago by those who profit from division and clicks.

Debate is a crucial part of American history, it is the rock of our republic. From fiery exchanges in Congress, to the town halls and public forums that define our democracy today, open debate is our greatest strength. It's how we find consensus, expose flaws, and build a stronger union. If every conservative voice is discredited, canceled, or silenced by bullets, then we have no country left. Continuing in this direction will bring authoritarianism, and the kind of political violence that tears societies apart.

Charlie Kirk's murder isn't an isolated incident, it's a symptom of a rotting system where the left's media machine manufactures outrage to suppress dissent. They call for "unity" while labeling half the country as deplorable.  It's time to hold these people accountable. Demand retractions, boycotts, and real journalism that values truth over agenda. As a Town Council candidate, I'll fight for policies that protect free speech in our schools and public spaces, ensuring we remain a beacon of open debate.

We owe it to Charlie's memory to double down on our efforts. Debate harder, speak louder, and never back down. If we let the forces of misinformation win, America as we know it is finished. Let's honor Charlie Kirk by finishing what he started.
