Finally, there is hope for all the overtaxed, underrepresented citizens in Guilford after eight years of one-party rule.

At the Board of Selectmen (BOS) meeting on 12/1/25, transparency was finally restored. This was Republican Jonathan Trotta’s first BOS meeting since being elected, and his impact was immediate and positive. Please go to www.guilfordct.gov, click on Boards and Commissions, click on Board of Selectmen, click on agendas, then click on video for the 12/1/25 meeting and watch from the 56:55 minute mark until the end.

The agenda for every Guilford BOS meeting includes “correspondence”. I have sent scores of emails to the members of Guilford BOS over the past four years but never have any of these emails been discussed under correspondence at any BOS meeting. This censorship ended at the 12/1/25 BOS meeting when Selectman Trotta brought up correspondence I had emailed the Board regarding the formation of a Charter Revision Commission.

First Selectman Hoey admitted he was accepting requests from residents to be appointed to this commission and that anyone interested should direct their request to the Selectman’s Office. Also, no formal application form needed to be filled out. Is anyone even aware of this? For something this consequential, shouldn’t our Guilford leadership have alerted all the citizens of Guilford that a Guilford Charter Revision Commission will be formed, and the process to be followed to be considered to be appointed to this commission? Why not utilize the Guilford Mass Communication System to alert the citizens of Guilford about the formation of this commission? Why not post information about the formation of this commission on our Town Website?

I encourage all concerned citizens to email First Selectman Hoey at [email protected] asap and request that they be considered for appointment to this critically important commission.
