The MAGA Movement begins and ends with one over-riding concept: America First… and the concept requires a Rightwing unified under MAGA to succeed.
Just as Reaganism (whether sincere or “in name only”) dominated the American Right from 1980 – 2016, MAGA will dominate the American Right for the next generation. It will subsume the old Reagan Right and bring on board the more Nationalist concepts that have exploded into the nation’s consciousness, especially among GenZ, since Trump was re-elected in 2024.
But to succeed it must set itself several goals; interestingly, attempts at accomplishing these goals may play themselves out in a place where they are least suspected of having any traction at all: the Deep Blue state of Connecticut.
What elements must come together to create the MAGA Fusion?
Where are they in lockstep? Where do they disagree?
What are their responsibilities to each other?
The first element of the MAGA Fusion is an older demographic, consisting of conservative Baby Boomers who despised everything the Leftwing utopians of their own generation believed in. The second element includes disgruntled, conservative leaning GenX, who feel themselves stereotyped as an unexciting, mostly forgotten generation best remembered as greedy yuppies. They are joined by Millennials, who saw the promise of the Reagan era they grew up with betrayed by both his Republican and Democrat successors, who presided over an age where American power was wasted, and its prosperity appeared to be on the wane.
Among conservatives in this age cohort, we also find national security conservatives, especially those that served in the military or in law enforcement and religious conservatives who can remember a time when the national moral order was solidly based on a belief in GOD.
The latter are especially sickened by the moral rot that has festered in a toxic atmosphere created by the WOKE Left.
Closely aligned to the religious conservatives are the social conservatives, who are horrified by the onslaught of a deviant, post-modern cultural view that is the dominating influence in government, in academia, in the news-and social-media and in the entertainment industry, all of which relentlessly push a perspective that is fueled by hedonistic nihilism. This perspective seeks to deliberately deconstruct every social tradition – religious, familial, patriotic, sexual and gender roles – that have held society together since the beginning of time.
Reaganites called for an end to the Welfare State and its concomitant requirement for massive governmental regulation and interference in all aspects of civil society. This was famously encapsulated by Reagan’s quip regarding the 9 most dangerous words in the English language: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
Lastly, the Reaganites included those who believed in an ideological commitment to Free Markets that was held so fervently that they clung to it even when our international competitors and enemies engaged in the opposite against us.
But despite all the success of the Reaganite conservatives, their long dominance over the Republican Party has also resulted in a series of ever worsening maladies that they seemed incapable of resolving: rampant illegal immigration, unfair trade imbalances, de-industrialization and myriad cultural assaults that include bizarrely perverse attempts to normalize such grotesque practices as the mutilation of children in the name of “Trans-sexual Rights.”
Conservatives have suffered aggressive censorship of their views in both the legacy news- and social-media as well as draconian surveillance and policing by Federal authorities that clamped down on conservative dissent.
Worse, the government has shown little compunction against using powerful federal agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service to attack Conservative groups on trumped up charges (as they did against the Tea Party Movement) and ordering the FBI to go after “dissident” groups, including traditional Catholics, parents protesting WOKE School Boards, harassment of Pro-Life advocates and gender dysphoric men “identifying” as women invading women’s sports and private spaces.
Worse still, under the influence of so-called “neo-Conservatives,” the Nation was driven into a series of drawn-out foreign wars, such as in Iraq and Afghanistan, where little or no vital American interest was present.
Conservative parties in the United States draw their key base of support from older citizens who typically place law and order, a strong military, traditional religious and family values and the protection of national sovereignty in the form of strong borders among their top political concerns.
Therefore, Right-leaning voters see the Republicans as those most likely to implement conservative policies that that address what are, in essence, nationalist concerns.
Nationalism can be defined as an ideology that declares sovereignty to be its core guiding moral principal and that its politics are based around loyalty to the Nation as a whole, rather than to the particularist desires of its component classes, races or “identity” groups.
But Establishment Republicans are neither reliably conservative nor reliably nationalist; they regularly betray their voters on a whole slew of issues, largely because they take them for granted. Establishment “conservative” parties in Europe, especially in the UK, have failed in a similar manner. As in the United States, the only alternative to weak conservative parties are progressive left-wing parties, which those on the Right see as far worse.
The problem is that enfeebled “conservative” parties, led by tired leaders who are frozen in the political amber that enveloped them during their Reagan- and Tharcher-ite youth, are no longer strong enough to keep radicals outside the mainstream of politics.
They are too quick to compromise, too quick to appease, too quick to give up and too quick to fearfully flee in the face of media slander.
Basically, they are too tired and too old.
The new reality is that the Reaganite coalition, which succeeded so brilliantly in so many areas has become too enfeebled to maintain this success against the ever-changing tactics of the Progressive Left, especially when it comes to preserving America's unique national identity.
It has stood idly by while America’s traditional culture and heritage have been, pace Jacques Derrida, “deconstructed.”
All the manufactured political fetishes of the last 40 years, including “the “Nuclear Freeze movement,” “Climate Change,” “Occupy Wall Street,” “Black Lives Matter,” “Defund the Police,” “Open Borders,” ‘Transexual “Gender Affirmation,” the creation of far Left pro-terrorist groups on campus and, of course, the acceptance of the anti-meritocratic fraud of D.E.I. (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”) with all its attendant Post-Modernist applications via “critical theories” regarding race, gender, law, sex and immigration are part of this “deconstruction.”
All this and more has relentlessly pushed the Nation toward a culture that is anti-normative generally and anti-American, anti-Family, anti-Life and anti-religious in particular.
It seeks to create a self-loathing, antinomian culture that rejects the socially accepted moral principles, laws and conventions that make up our national tradition and instead insists that people are not bound by “culturally constructed” ethical codes, which are falsely condemned as racist, sexist and exploitative.
The weakness of the aging Reagan coalition in preserving America’s unique historical identity against its erosion by the multi-cultural progressive Left has caused an increasing amount of younger voters to seek out a more muscular, nationalist alternative to counter a Leftwing that is increasingly willing to publicly come out as far more aggressively neo-Marxist than their own more “progressive” Liberal predecessors.
Alternatives to establishment conservative parties are not just being sought in the United States but around the world. In France, more 18 to 24-year- olds are supporting the National Rally Party of Marine Le Pen than any other age group.
In Poland, we find similar support among younger voters for the more traditional conservative forces there, including the nationalist "Konfederacja" party, which has great popularity among younger voters.
In the UK one sees a similar collapse in support for the Tories who, while rhetorically opposing the Left, routinely cave in to its demands and allow many of their policies, especially regarding immigration and cultural affairs, to be instituted.
Former Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak condemned such opposition on the British Right as “extremists undermining democracy” and instead praised the current UK as ‘the world’s most successful multi-ethnic multi-faith democracy.”
He only differs from so-called “conservative” Republicans in the United States in that they dispute him for this dubious title.
Just as left-wing youth tend to be more radically Marxist than their parents, right-wing youth tend to be more nationalist than their conservative elders.
The only claim left to the Republicans is that they are not as bad as their opponents on the Left; this is simply no longer enough.
Young MAGA Nationalists insist that the Right… and, if it is to have any future, the Republican Party… shift from portraying themselves as protectors of a failing political order and become counter-Revolutionaries who speak with clarity about the system’s problems and demonstrate the backbone to speak and act on them in a meaningful and effective way.
Having grown up watching the so-called “conservative” Republican Party continually sell out and fail has justifiably turned many young right-wing GenZ voters against them.
Recent polling bears this out… even in the deep Blue state of Connecticut, where the establishment Republican Party is as weak, feeble, co-opted and emasculated as it is possible to be.
These polls are reflective of a national trend among young voters seeking a change, such as those who are flocking to the late Charlie Kirk’s organization, TPUSA.
For example, the Republican candidate who is running as a Conservative for the gubernatorial nomination, State Senator Ryan Fazio, has actively courted the youth vote with very impressive results over his closest competitors.
According to the University of New Hampshire’s Nutmeg State Poll:
Fazio is the most popular gubernatorial candidate among likely Republican primary voters: 42% of voters statewide have a favorable opinion of Fazio, 16% are neutral… but only 3% have an unfavorable opinion of him.
Fazio's net favorability rating among likely Republican primary voters is +39. While 40% have a favorable opinion of former New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart she is saddled with a terrible 22% unfavorable opinion of her statewide, compared to Fazio’s 3% unfavorable…”
Yet the results are even more impressive when one looks at voters in the age 18 – 34 age group.
Fazio has a 70% favorability rating with this age cohort, which beats out every other candidate, Democrat or Republican, by huge margins!
Fazio’s other rivals for the Republican nomination, Erin Stewart and Betsey McCaughey, respectively poll favorably at 17% and 7%.
These polls strongly indicate that young MAGA Nationalists are more than willing to vote for candidates, such as Ryan Fazio as well as Dan Mirressi, the conservative who is running for the Republican congressional nomination in CT-4, Fairfield, who do not fear leaning into GenZ’s more nationalist belief system. This may be because such candidates are more open about wanting to return Connecticut to its former position as a place where people wanted to move to, not flee from.
A place where they could get good manufacturing jobs and not face unemployment due to off shoring and de-industrialization.
A state that does not price them out of the American Dream of home ownership and the ability to live in a community where they are surrounded by productive, law-abiding friends and neighbors rather than parasitic illegal immigrant squatters feeding off a bloated public dole that their heavy tax burden pays for.
These confiscatory taxes are then squandered by Democrats on counter- productive “programs” supposedly aimed at helping “the undocumented,” but which are instead a cynical attempt to appease and placate the radicals in the Leftwing Base of the party, whose influence over party primary elections causes Democrat incumbents to quake with fear.
All this is behind what is driving right-wing youth, who have observed and suffered the consequences of this corrupt leftwing scheme for their entire lives, to reject a Republican Party Establishment that has become nothing more than a putrefying political cadaver.
Right-wing youth are abandoning what they correctly identify as a lifeless party consisting of irrelevant “moderate” RINOs who can barely muster enough of their own kind to hold a meeting; instead, young conservatives are rapidly moving in a MAGA Nationalist direction.
Beth MacGillivray, the former Chair of the necropolis that is the Greenwich Republican Town Committee, conceded as much in her January 11, 2026, article in the Connecticut Centinal.
The litany of failure she describes was as long as it was dismal:
- We lost the BET (Budget Board)—a Republican stronghold for 100 years
- Voter turnout was low - declined 15%
- Lauren Rabin barely won
- Camillo’s vote count was weak (from a high of 70% to 55%)
- Four Republican Committee seats were lost
- Party leadership shut down communication: no social media, no modern website, no newsletter
- Fundraising collapsed: declined 80%………from a record high of $300,000
- Chronic leadership absenteeism: 2–4 of 5 officers routinely failed to attend monthly meetings.
- No motivation, no ground game: meetings canceled, no election headquarters, no voter turnout effort
Of course, this dreary record of powerless failure is part and parcel of a state party that hasn’t elected one candidate to the Senate, the House or the Governor’s Mansion in ages. More, their Democrat opponents utterly dominate the state legislature.
Reviewing the disastrous record of the CT Republicans, one gets the feeling that they have come to terms with their status as an insignificant, barely recognized member of the Uniparty in New Haven, who are more than satisfied with playing the laughable role of the manipulated corpse in “Weekend at Bernies.”
This MUST end… and the control of these moribund Republicans can only be ended by a new American Right that is united in purpose and goals and is committed to politically burying it!
That American Right, consisting of MAGA Conservatives and MAGA Nationalists must come together and adapt, not only to the Nation’s new political situation but also to each other.
MAGA conservatives must reject that which has failed, including so-called “free trade deals” that off-shore manufacturing jobs, rentier Capitalism (where economic primacy is given to owning wealth rather than creating it) futile neo-conservative fantasies regarding making the world safe for Democracy through endless wars where no American interest is present and reacting with nothing but stunned, petrified astonishment when staring into the hideous face of the Leftwing cultural Medusa.
Older conservatives must complete the move from Reagan Conservatism to MAGA Conservatism; more importantly, they must help build the future of the conservative movement on the more Nationalist direction demanded by right-wing youth and not simply hand them a “barren scepter,” which will leave the conservative movement politically impotent and facing a fruitless future. Older generations must understand that GenZ Nationalists are the keystone to achieving the Nation’s hopes and help them preserve the country that their elders fought to protect and defend.
Youthful Nationalists must themselves become mature enough to recognize that many fringe elements, which tend to appeal to the natural fervor of youth for more rapid and widespread change, will want to manipulate that enthusiasm to ride their coattails and use it for their own petty ambitions.
It is incumbent on MAGA Nationalists to find the strength and character to reject the extreme rhetoric of those who seek to use their legitimate and reasonable desire to return to the idea that there must be an over-arching, ethno-nationalist heritage and culture that unifies all of us as a Nation. They must take care not to be exploited by “influencers” who seek to use them as a mask for their own deconstructive, divisive, un-American ends.
To fall into such a trap is the type of political suicide that the Left most passionately desires for the Right to commit and which a united MAGA Conservative – MAGA Nationalist Right must avoid.
Aging MAGA Conservatives must pass on their fight to the MAGA Nationalist Youth because the counter-Revolutionary Future belongs to them; in turn, Nationalist Youth must quickly learn how to be effective in that fight, which means understanding how to distinguish between allies, enemies and fake friends who seek to use and exploit their principles and the potential power it represents.
It is the Youth who will be handed the responsibility that MAGA Conservatives have carried for so long, which is to maintain and strengthen the Nation’s history, culture, religious traditions, family values, myths, heroes, sovereignty, security, prosperity and Ordered Liberty under the Constitution.
It is the young MAGA Nationalists who are the next step in conservative political evolution.
Perhaps fate has chosen the quiet, unlikely state of Connecticut to be the place where GenZ sparks the nationalist counter-Revolution against the existential political threat presented by the Radical Left.
If it can accomplish this in a state as Blue as Connecticut, the country may see the beginning of a unified, counter-Revolutionary spirit that will grow into a force that cannot be stopped.

Wow, good read.
Mr. Stark’s articles are always interesting and spot on, but this one is particularly trenchant and incisive. CT Republicans would do well to heed his advice.
A well thought out, and powerful argument for young people joining with older conservatives, to move MAGA forward.
