One of the most encouraging things I have seen during this campaign season is the number of accomplished community leaders stepping forward to serve. They are not career politicians. They are people who have built successful careers, raised families, volunteered in their communities, and decided Connecticut deserves better.
Ken Astarita is one of those leaders.
As the Republican candidate for Connecticut’s 134th House District, representing Fairfield and Trumbull, Ken brings decades of financial experience, service on Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting, and a practical understanding of how government should work. He understands that taxpayers deserve accountability, transparency, and leaders who put their communities first.
A Practical Leader for Fairfield and Trumbull
Ken’s campaign is centered on the issues that matter most: affordability, economic growth, strong schools, public safety, responsible government, and restoring local control. He believes government should empower communities—not dictate to them.

Ground Zero for Connecticut’s Housing Debate
That message is especially important because Fairfield has become ground zero for Connecticut’s housing debate.
As one of the few municipalities to earn an 8-30g affordable housing moratorium, Fairfield has already shouldered a significant share of the responsibility under state housing law. Now, with Public Act 25-2 (formerly House Bill 8002) taking effect, communities like Fairfield and Trumbull face even greater pressure from Hartford mandates that often fail to account for local infrastructure, traffic, parking, schools, sewer capacity, emergency services, and neighborhood character.
Ken understands that affordable housing and responsible planning are not mutually exclusive. We need housing solutions that are developed with local communities, not imposed on them. The people who live in Fairfield and Trumbull know their communities best, and their voices deserve to be heard.
Making Connecticut Affordable Again
Ken also understands that the only lasting solution to Connecticut’s affordability crisis is creating an environment where businesses want to invest, jobs can grow, and families can build their futures here.
Economic opportunity—not bigger government—is what keeps young families in Connecticut, allows seniors to remain in the communities they love, and gives the next generation a reason to stay and build their futures here.
A Movement Built from the Ground Up
During his campaign kickoff, Ken reminded supporters that success will require everyone working together.
“This is going to take all of us.”
He’s absolutely right.
Federal solutions often begin with local ideas, and many local priorities require state and federal partners working together. Politics is local, but its consequences reach Hartford and Washington. Building a stronger Connecticut starts by electing leaders who understand their communities and are willing to fight for practical solutions instead of accepting the status quo.
