"This produce looks absolutely wonderful and very fresh," said US Senator Richard "Danang Dick" Blumenthal. "And it is affordable because this grocery is a non-profit."

Blumenthal brought the Attorney General along with him because Tong is also against "price gouging and sky-rocketing prices" in grocery stores.

"The Trump tariffs are driving prices sky high. Even the anticipation of rising prices from the gas pump to the produce aisle to the pharmaceutical drug counter, Americans are going to be paying much much more," claimed Blumenthal who cited a Yale Budget Lab estimate that expenses would rise by $2,400 per family on average under Trump's tariffs.

He further argued, "Americans are already paying the price for this reckless, feckless, absolutely disastrous tariff policy, and what's even more pernicious, it has opened a path for price gougers -- bad actors who are more than willing to take advantage of these sky-rocketing prices in the supply chain and distribution network by charging more at the produce aisle, at the meat counter, and everywhere else, groceries, pharmaceutical drugs, across the board."

Blumenthal, one of the richest members of Congress, held the press conference to tout his "Price Gouging Prevention Act."

He argued that price gouging is not a big deal "for Trump's billionaire buddies" but it causes "a lot of pain" for average Americans.

He promised things would get worse, not only with inflation, but he also argued the country was potentially headed into a recession.

"There's a lot of bad news here," lamented Blumenthal while flashing a dual American flag / Ukrainian flag pin on his lapel. "I hope on a bipartisan basis my colleagues are going to react as they should to the rising anger felt by consumers, legitimately rising anger, real outrage that American consumers should feel and they ought to express it to the people they've elected because they ought to be held accountable."

He further alleged that no matter what you do or where you go, Americans will be feeling the "pain" of tariffs. He suggested that Americans ought to "rise up in anger against it" and take on the "bad actors and price gougers" with his Price Gouging Prevention Act.

Blumenthal then introduced William Tong as "the best Attorney General in the country and in the history of Connecticut" to which Tong replied he was the "second best" giving a nod to Dick who held the role for 20 years.

Tong bragged about how quickly he acted against Trump's "tariff madness" just to protect Connecticut families who "are getting squeezed every single day" but failed to mention that one of the biggest ways Connecticut taxpayers are getting "squeezed" is by being forced to pay for benefits for illegals to the tune of $1.3B, according to FAIR. He fully expects to win the tariffs case against the Trump Administration when it goes to court in the fall.

Basically, Tong and Blumenthal want to be able to investigate up the chain when they see "any unjustified spike in prices, any unexplained increase" for potential profiteering and price gouging... because apparently tariffs and price gouging are the only factors for rising prices, according to Blumenthal.

Though when a reporter challenged Blumenthal, and said republicans would just say he's fear-mongering for not identifying other factors that could contribute to rising prices, Tong jumped into the conversation.

"I'll give you another factor. You want to drive up prices? Cut ICE loose on immigrant workers. Half. Half of all meat-packing and agricultural workers in this country are immigrants and they're undocumented. Fifty percent," said Tong, wagging his finger. "So you want to raise prices on people, you enact tariffs, but you also, you know, the secret police that the President is developing and he's unleashed on our cities and on Connecticut, on residents, that's going to drive up prices, too."

There you have it, folks.

It always comes back to protecting illegal aliens for Tong.
