Connecticut democrat State Rep. Corey Paris, who represents Stamford, posted to Instagram after ICE activity was reported in Stamford earlier this week, cautioning people to "remain vigilant" as they work to "verify the full scope" of the reports.

"Please look out for one another, check in with neighbors who may be concerned, and seek out trusted legal community resources if needed," wrote Paris. "If you have information about ICE activity, share it with local advocacy organizations who can respond quickly and appropriately."

Paris, who serves as the House Chair of the Committee on Children, Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee and is a member of the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, is certainly no fan of ICE.

A couple weeks ago, he strongly condemned the Trump Administration for offering "student loan forgiveness and $50,000 signing bonuses to recruit ICE agents while ignoring the millions of working-class Americans crushed by student debt".

"This policy is not just misguided - it is a moral failure," wrote Paris. "Imagine what forgiving loans for 3,000 borrowers a day would do for our economy, our communities, and our future."

Paris further thinks the emphasis on immigration enforcement "reveals the worst in us" and "ignores inequities baked into this incentive and turns its back on millions of dreamers."

He even promised that Connecticut would not assist ICE recruitment.

It's worth mentioning that, in the 2025 legislative session, Paris co-sponsored HB-7212, An Act Concerning the Trust Act, which was passed in order to "strengthen" the state's sanctuary policy that prohibits local and state law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
